Hi everyone,

How are you all doing? I hope you’re not all stressed out about preparing all the paperwork stuff for the interview (like I am). THis has become my favorite thread of all on VJ, because we're all going through CDJ, and we are all pretty much (almost) on the same path. Oh well, it’s something we have to put up with to bring our fiance’s to the U.S.

I had a couple of questions for your guys (since you’re all preparing the paperwork or have done so already).

I will be needing a co-sponsor because I’ve been at my new job for a short time (since March 2006). My income from previous jobs has been very little since it was work-study jobs I had while in college. So, my co-sponsor is my dad. My questions are:

1) Should I include a letter stating why I need a co-sponsor (I am a recent college grad, just recently got my first “real” job, etc.)? Or is it best not to include such a letter?

2) My dad had his identity stolen about 2 or 3 years ago but everything has been clear now. My question is: should my dad write a letter telling them about this?

The last question is specifically for KK, it deals with a previous post we both responded too. Remember the thread that talked about a visa denial because the petitioner was not present at the interview. Did you end up sending a letter to your fiancé stating why you were unable to attend his interview? (financial and work obligations) I remember you posted about that. I think it’s a good idea to include such because you never know how picky they are, they better not refuse the visa simply because we weren't there for the interview (eventhough it's not required at CDJ).

Thanks girls, I know it’s kind of long, but I’m just getting started gathering stuff.

KK, any news!!!

I'm sitting in front of the computer in case he emails and next to the phone, waiting for his call (trying not to throw up!!) The waiting is killing me even though I know he's not walking out with the visa.

My guess is he's still inside the consulate since it's only 3:30 there . . . I'll post when I have info!

UCLA - I didn't go to interview either. I did not send a letter stating I hard work obligations. They didn't ask my fiance if I was there or not. We are not allowed into consulate.

I didn't have a co-sponsor so I can't address to that.

KK- I think it is good news you haven't heard from him - maybe they let him stay to turn in waiver.

That situation was in Asia, right, where the applicant was given a 221g for more evidence?

I sent a letter with my fiance stating why I am not there - primarily because it's their policy that no fiances or spouses can enter the consulate, plus work and financial considerations. They cannot deny him if you are not there - that's not a basis for denial - but they could give him a hard time when it comes to filing the waiver (they could say they need my approval or something like that) so giving him a letter is a good idea.

You don't have to explain why you need a co-sponsor - they know why people need one - or anything about your dad.

Thanks girls for the quick response.

KK, I'm on the edge of my seat also (for you & your fiance), I really want to know how it went for your fiance. I don't even want to imagine what I'll be feeling when my fiance goes for his interview, I'll probably be losing my mind. :D

Well I am here at work too waiting for KK's reply. I too had a question regarding all the financial stuff... I just started a new job on October 13. I got fed up with my last one and quit in August. It took me two months to get a new job. Anyway, I have all my paystubs from my old job and 3 from this job (I get paid biweekly). I also have the last three years of income tax statements. My income on all previous years has been more than enough but now am curious if they will even notice that there is a two month gap in paystubs. I read somewhere that they are mainly concerned with W2's and not paystubs. Some people have even been asked to return once their 2006 W2 comes in to show sufficient income even though their paystubs showed enough. I don't know. I am really just getting nervous. I can just imagine what you must be going through KK...Hang in there! We are all here with you!

But remember, with all of their misinformation they have provided to us, there's a good chance they did not know what packet you were talking about or which case you were referring to. Seriously. It could arrive tomorrow.

Phew - finally talked to him! He's tired and hungry and has a headache so I did not get a complete report yet. He said he waited all day. I think they didn't interview him until around 4:00. They also sent him to get new photos taken because apparently they didn't like the background on the ones he had. (I've heard this happening to a lot of people). They only asked a few questions, nothing about me or where I was, and then told him he had to come back in two weeks to submit the waiver. But somehow he was able to get a pass for tomorrow morning - hard to know if they will actually let him submit the waiver then, but it's worth a try since his return flight is not until tomorrow night. They also allowed him to give his fingerprints and pay for them today. I don't know what financial information they took or anything more, but when I get more information I promise to post it. Big relief.

Wow KK, then there's still a chance!!!

Did he tell you at what point the overstay situation was brought up? Did they have it on record or did he tell them up front?

I've heard about the pictures too, can you ask him where he had them taken? I'm thinking I'll just wait and have them taken once I'm in Juarez after the medical is done, so I'm sure I get the right ones....

kitkat,

I'm glad you finally heard from him. I was beginning to worry about you, I seriously thought you were going to pass out or throw up while waiting to hear from him. But I'm glad you didn't. Whenever your fiance goes back home, and he's relaxed (more importantly, you're relaxed) you can let us know all the details.
