El guevon...you also need to print out and complete the DS156K, which is specific to K1 visas. This is in addition to the DS156 which you already have listed.

and yes she can take any medicine - they are looking for illegal drugs - not prescription antibiotics and if she is sick with a fever, she needs to take something!!!

I would not be concerned about where she was born - you haven't put an incorrect information. You've put the localidad and the passport has the municipio - not an issue.

Given the DS-156 seems to want the names portion to match the passport, should I enter for her "Place of Birth City", "Guamuchil" (like we filled out for all the previous forms) or "Salvador Alvarado" (like it says in her passport)?

Yeah, I'm sure I'm being overly analytical of this but I'd just like her to avoid any questions. :)

Hello! Well I made it to Juarez without any issues, however her plane got delayed by 3 hours and I'm sitting here at the airport BORED!!! One can only drink so much Mexican Coke!!! YUMMI!

So talking with the shuttle driver who SEEMED quite versed in the K-1 process, he seems quite certain that when your fiance(e) goes for the medical exam and has no proof of vaccinatons, that he/she MUST get the vaccinations at the medical exam regardless and pay the high fee for each.

Is that true?

What if she refuses the vaccinations?

I thought reading earlier in this thread that vaccinations are only used for the AOS and have nothing to do with the K-1. What should I do because she already has had the vaccinations, but without the vaccine card she has no proof. We can certainly attempt to get her family to fax the vaccine card showing the injections, etc.

Advice?

Advice?

YES. Don't listen to idiot taxi/van/shuttle drivers or people outside the consulate or people at the hotel.

Vaccinations are NOT required for K1 issuance. They are required for AOS.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...tml#Vaccination

Nonimmigrant Visa for a Fiance(e) (K-1)

Vaccination Requirements

All applicants for immigrant visas are required to have the following vaccinations, if appropriate, for age, medical condition, or medical history:

Mumps

Measles

Rubella

Polio

Tetanus and diptheria toxoids

Pertussis

Influenza type B

Hepatitis B

Varicella

Pneumococcal

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

I figured as such.

So has anyone's fiance(e) here on this board ever refused the vaccinations at the time of the medical exam in lieu of getting them later? Any hassles at the Juarez consulate as a result, regardless of what the "policy" is as stated on the DOS web site?

Yes - most refuse. Some nurses are idiots and push a bit, others know the law. If they give her any hassle, Just tell your fiance to remind them that she is interviewing for a K1 and vaccinations are NOT required. If you want to be totally safe and prepared, print out the page I linked. You can probably also find the same information on the CDJ website in the fiance packet in Spanish.

They didn't even bring it up with Edgar at the medical. He was a bit panicked that he was the only one without the white sheet on his Xrays, but I now know it was because he was one of the few applying for a nonimmigrant visa.

No worries...and good luck!

At my Edgar's medical, they didn't bring it up either. He got a white sheet stapled to his Xrays, but it was entirely blank. (which is why we later threw it away!) So don't worry, I dont think they're gonna say anything. Frankly, I think they have so many people waiting to get in for a medical, the quicker they can get you in and out, the better!

Good luck!!

Hello...well her "Medical Exam" is complete and it was pretty much identical to what others have recently posted.

We took the advice of another VJ post and arrived to the Clinca Medica International at 8am (rather than get there around 7am) and there was no line outside...just a lot of people waiting for their friend/family/finance(e) to come out of the medical exam that had arrived earlier than us.

Before she went into the clinic, there was a guy at the entrance screening people asking for the appointment letter, her passport, and vaccination records. Good thing I asked about those here because he was insistant that she needed her vaccination records and I told him no she doesn't as she is here for the K-1 visa (thanks to KitKat and others for that forceful response) and he eventually said OK...keep in mind this was a clinic worker at the doorway entrance making sure only those that are there for the medical exam could enter.

So after making her way into the clinic she went to the reception and they asked for her appt. letter and her passport, told her to have a seat. She was called 10 minutes later where they took her to take phots. After the photos, they told her to go to waiting area 4 where there was around 80 women. There was a nice woman explaining to everyone the upcoming process: take a blood sample, X-rays, urine sample, etc.

She waited about 15 minutes, and they called her name for the blood sample. They took the sample and sent her back to the waiting area 4. She waited 2 HOURS to get called as they were calling women by name in groups of 8 to go to another smaller waiting area where there was a line of chairs and 4 exam rooms. They finally called her name and they went over her passport information again making sure everything was correct. They then gave her hospital gown and led her into the exam room to change. A female doctor came in where she weighed her, took her blood pressure, and performed the examination (about 3 minutes). For those that want to know the female exam, its only a visual inspection and nothing more.

After the exam, they took her to take 1 X-ray of her back (thorax) area. She didn't have to wait in line for the X-ray. They told her to change out of the hospital gown and back into her normal clothes, then sent her on to waiting room 2.

She got the waiting room 2 (no waiting) and there was a window where they asked her name and the amount she had to pay ($148 USD). They gave back her passport, appt. letter and a "claim-check" llike piece of paper and told her to return at 2pm for the results.

She finally left the clinic at 11:45am...so it took 3 hours and 45 minutes in total. Longer than what others on VJ seemed to experience but talking with a clinic rep she said Mondays are the busiest days. During this timeframe I went and ate at the restaurant across the street and people watched. Luckily the weather wasn't hot.

When she left the clinic, we went across the street directly in front of the American Consulate and took her photographs for USCIS. $15. We then went to Banamex and paid the $100 USD fee where we were given a simple ATM like receipt to present at the interview tomorrow.

At 2pm we went back to the clinic to get her results. You have to go to the "side-entrance" (left side of the building) for the results, NOT the main entrance that you went into for the exam. A guy at the entrance asked to see the "claim-ticket" and allowed her to enter. There was waiting area with about 80 people, some sitting on chairs and others standing. They were calling names to collect the results. She waited about 20 minutes before they called her name, she presented her claim check and they gave her a large, black, sealed plastic sleeve that had a white sheet of paper stapled to the outside. The sleeve was labeled "DO NOT OPEN" and you can't see through it. Feeling it I could tell it contained the X-ray as well as some documents inside. The white piece of paper stapled to the black sleeve on the outside was the vaccination records (because she didn't need them, the paper was basically a standard form with nothing filled out...just her name, case number, etc). I was happy to see that she came out with this package as some others that had left before her I could overhear saying "They said they are sending the results directly to the consulate", which thanks to VJ I learned is NOT a good sign.

That's it! Medical Complete.

Tomorrow is the big day. I'll report again on what happens at the interview as soon as we know!

Thanks again to all for the help...invaluable assistance and certainly assisted greatly with this medical portion!

Well I'm sitting in front of the consulate waiting. She went in at 8:45am...there was no line at all. We kind of felt like a spectacle as everyone across the street was watching...these we're the people waiting for their person to leave the consulate and all she was doing was entering.

Its now going 4 hours and nothing yet. I'm hanging out with some other k-1ers just waiting. Nothing really to do but wait!

Congratulations! Will you be crossing together or will she come over later?

She'll be coming in 2-4 weeks as she needs to finish her job. I'll fly down to San Diego and she'll fly to Tijuana. We have friends in Tijuana so I'll cross into Tijuana and we'll hang out there for a day or so and then we'll cross back together. That is the plan as of now....
