Oh yeah, to the person (nm?) who apologized for going off topic, don't worry about it!

The topic is all things to do with Juarez, so ask away!

I really love this thread! Everyone is so helpful here, and I know it might get a little repetitive when some of us newbies ask the same questions... but thanks to all you girls (and the few guys in here) for all your patience!

With some of the other threads, some members merely use the "Read the guides!" icon, which is really discouraging because I've searched the forums and the guides, and sometimes my own questions aren't answered. So thanks to all of you.

Hey all! How is everyone?

Well, Ady and I got married today. It's official!!!! We are pretty happy. Things are good. It's definitely different leaving together.

So, I've got a question. Now that we are married, do we need to let the USCIS know that we are? I thought that I've read somewhere that you need to let them know before the 90 day expiration date. Any advice?

Also, I will probably be emailing some of you in regards to AOS stuff! I need to get moving if I want to avoid the increased fees.

Congratulations!!! Edgar and I also got married this morning. I cried. He cried. Our witness cried. It was very emotional! And so worth it. Now onto the AOS paperwork ... I'm trying to get it in before the end of the month, too.

Good luck to everyone!

Our Story:

Jan 2003 moved to Campeche, met Edgar three weeks later

Congrats Marty and Monica!!!!!! (I'm gonna cry too!)

CDJ responded to my email. They said they will fix Adolfo's name and that his case is in process and the packet will be sent to me. I was kinda impressed because I only mentioned my concern about his name and they offered the other info on their own.

Congratulations Monica and Edgar!

I'm glad to hear that Juarez is taking care of the problem, vismaster. Must be a relief.

My father has kidnapped Edgar and taken him to his house. I have no idea when he's going to return him. He's stopped calling me and only calls Edgar now.

That's funny Gabacha, This also happened with Juan and all my family. Our families forget about us, and now want to concentrate on the new member of the family huh,

It's been a long time since I last checked into the Juarez thread, so I have no idea where everyone is at. Not to mention that there are so many new members. Thanks Cutie - we're waiting too! It has been 8 months and my guess is two more plus four more for visa pickup - that's how long their pick up appointments are now taking. We really had the worst possible timing with IMBRA, the CDJ waiver backlog and missing the pilot program. At least I get to spend the majority of my time here in DF - I lead a double life with half my time here in Mexico and half in the US!

It's astounding that they managed to pick up the pace of the approvals yet now take so long for the pick up. At least that wait will have a finite end!

I can't wait to see your apporval!

The increased pace is exactly why they take so long for pick up. They cannot keep up with all the approvals and they don't have enough people to add personnel to the pick up part :(

Who wants to pick me up at the El Paso airport and drive me to Juarez??? Anyone?:)

So I'm hoping in the next 2-3 weeks I'll get packet 3 from the Consulate in Juarez. While I could travel all the way to the middle of Mexico (2 connections and 12 hours later) then hop a flight with my fiancee to Juarez together, quite honestly the logistics of it doesn't really make any sense...given she can catch a non-stop flight to Juarez and I can fly to El Paso and cross the border to Juarez.

The question now is how to get from the El Paso Airport to the Juarez Airport (she should be waiting for me there)? Do I take a taxi from the El Paso Airport to the border, cross, then grab a Mexican taxi and take it to the Juarez Airport?

Anyone have any recent cost estimation to do something like that?

I just don't feel that after this entire process, ending up kidnapped or murdered is not something I'd really enjoy.

Since I don't see any "W" or "Starwood" hotels in Juarez, looks like the next nicest thing is the Holiday Inn.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I flew into El Paso and met my fiance (at the time) at the hotel. We stayed at Fiesta Inn (business hotel). Nice and safe. Lots of people have stayed at Holiday Inn as well. Taxi's from El Paso airport can take you into Juarez. They probably can take you direct to airport. There are shuttles to CDJ from airport maybe you can call one of them to set up a service. THat is what I did. I forgot the name but found it on El Paso airport website.

I called USCIS to change my address from my Mexican address to my mother's USA address and the operator told me she couldn't change it. She gave me an email and phone number for an embassy in D.F. that might be able to change my address for me. Is it worth the effort to try to change my address? Or will it just end up confusing things?

Here's my situation again.

I mailed in the I-129 and signed up for the USCIS site with the receipt number on the back of the check.

This is the only message I've received through the site ...

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On June 19, 2007, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

I haven't received that notice they sent to me June 19, 2007. It's now July 21, 2007. I got an email from a nice person on this site who said she had a Mexican address during her petition process and never received anything from USCIS. Another person, who I know here in Aguascalientes, said she received things from the USCIS but it took a really long time (she didn't specify how long).

Anyway, the things USCIS sends like NOAs or REFs ... do they also appear on their site? Am I in big trouble if they send me an REF and I don't receive it or I receive it really late?

If I change my address, is that going to confuse everything seeing that I'll be changing it through an embassy in the distrito federal and not through the main USCIS phone number? Does it take forever to change the address?

Thanks again for any help.

The embassy in DF has nothing to do with this process. It's all handled by the consulate in Ciudad Juarez. Changing an address with them makes zero sense -- they are not yet even aware that you currently have a petition waiting to be adjudicated. I would keep your eye on the USCIS case status as well as call the USCIS number again to change your address - sounds like you spoke to someone who had absolutely no clue. That said, they very very often do not make address changes correctly or in a timely fashion.

Normally your online case status does change when an RFE or NOA is sent. As I mentioned once before, I don't think that USCIS ever mails thing outside of the US. If they do, the chance of you actually receiving it in Mexico is normally slim to none, given the mail system.

What do you suggest I do? The lady on the phone was pretty sold on the fact that they couldn't change an address that was in Mexico. I'd hate to call again and get the same answer since it costs money ... I learned that 800 number isn't a free call from Mexico. If they send an RFE and I never receive it, is my request for Visa denied? Or would they post the same information on the physical RFE as they do on the USCIS Internet site?

Thanks for all the responses.

Colby
