It amazes me why a lot of people here think they need to fight weapon with bigger weapon. Why not just take the weapon away from the scene? Why try to treat the symptoms rather than curing the disease

Hmm..so if there was someone in the theatre who also carried a pistol. Suppose he took out his gun and shot the Killer. Imagine another guy who also had a gun who didn't see who started shooting firs

So, let me get this straight. Someone starts shooting and your plan is just wait until they're done?

My plan is NOT to open fire in a chaotic situation where I can barely see who I'm targeting, that's for sure.

It defies logic to tout carrying a gun for protection and be aghast at the thought of anyone NOT carrying one for protection, but then take other measures of self protection as if a gun is the end all - the windex spray to all your personal protection needs.

Yes, I am BLS certified. My question would be how many here routinely carry when going to the theater?

We are no longer in the cold war.

I guess I will never understand since I live in a socialist country where I don't have to be afraid of anyone coming in a theatre with an assault rifle, maybe a pocket knife, assault rifle?, nope.

Well it is what it is now. The city with the highest murder rate has a ban on handguns. In a perfect world they would give up those guns and go home. Not gonna happen. Even if they did, see Finland and Norway.

If one person at that movie theater had a gun, lives could've been saved and the guy would be dead. Now it's gonna be a 4 year trial etc.

This is why gun need to be banned.

I disagree guns should be banned, although I'm not a fan of them. The fact the guns used were bought legally seems to be something avoided in this conversation. As is the failure of Colorados gun laws to prevent this tragedy. More guns, less crime? No.

I'm just not convinced. A pistol chambered in 9mm, .38, 10mm, .45 etc does not have the ballistic capability of making it through 3A armor. Also consider most people carry hollow point rounds (which under normal circumstances is a bigger stopper) that lack penetrating power.

If you go on to youtube you can see all sorts of crazy people putting handguns up to their chests while wearing the armor.

Now consider your eyes are burning, you can't see well etc.
