Most of the people we consider to be "insane" are actually fvcking genius' - What does that tell us about the rest of society?

Meanwhile, back to the shooter - there was no indication he'd go off, he's not had any prior sittings with therapists or counselors, and wasn't on any psychotropic drugs to adjust himself to be 'balanced'.

In Your Opinion, as a licensed professional in the Psychiatric Field, where was the major event that triggered him to this violent event?

The determining factors in psycho babble 101 aren't anywhere near accurate and take a judgement call by an individual who's looking at another individual and deriving not only a professional opinion, but a personal one as well.

That's why we see so many "insane" individuals in the eyes of society considered "sane" by legal standards. You can murder a room full of people and still be perfectly sane. Understanding that is knowing how to truly find those who have an abnormal psychology, without going even further with the medical tests needed to determine psychopathology even.

I don't have to explain to you how I know that all universities don't offer intake. They offer crisis services. If "yer" message box wasn't full I'd explain it to you. Better clean it out from all the referrals.

I've got a kid who just graduated university last year, Darnell. And I work for one of the largest mental health provider in my state.

Just in case you thought I just feel off a log.

I don't know anywhere you can just walk in for an intake, 24/7. Mental health care in this country is abysmal. It's the dark thing under the bed no one wants to deal with.

and the point is, what the populace thinks is mentally unstable/deranged, doesn't exactly mean that someone is. Nor should the opinion of one individual psychologist (or 2 for that matter on either side of a court case) be a determining factor in how healthy ones mental status is.

Automatic reaction is:

Person shoots up other group of people: Mentally insane.

When that is no where necessarily near the case at all.

Colorado learned a lot from the mistakes at Columbine. Those mistakes weren't repeated in Aurora, and a lot of lives were saved in the process. The city of Aurora has gotten a lot of criticism for having a higher crime rate than the rest of the metro area, but the admirable performance of and coordination between several jurisdictions, including some from counties many miles away and called to the scene, is admirable. It's shown that Aurora has upped its game considerably. That's very good news for our citizens.

I don't follow what lessons were learned that saved lives here. The guy pretty much walked in, did his business, and it sounds like he only stopped because he ran out of bullets. Never was he deterred from his plan. They didn't even have to track him down. When he was done he was pretty much just waiting for them outside.
