Hello All,

I just got this email from the USCIS:

" Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Current Status:

We received your response to our request for evidence or information. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. Follow the the link below for current processing dates."

I was wondering if you could give me an input about its real meaning: is my case still pending around at lee's summit or did they move to the next step? What is the "remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message", I don't see any maximum time anywhere? And did they just realize that it was not that necessary to request more evidence for my case?

Thanks

Did you receive a RFE for your application ... Because this email is telling you that they received your information that they requested and that your approval time will be less than what was on your original NOA1 ...

It means they received RFE response and now they will continue processing your case.

It also means they do not know how to write an email since they never include processing times in their messages yet they continue to include that sentence referring to processing times.

Waiting in Vancouver,

I did get an RFE which I reponded to. But in my understanding, before they even got my RFE response, they completed my case. So it is like"oo, after all that RFE wasn't necessary!" It just baffles me to know that the RFE wasn't required.I am probably inventing my own story for the meaning of the message...

You are inventing your own story. They did a certain amount of processing on your case - up to the point that they realized it was necessary to send you a request for further evidence. This additional information WAS required. At that point, processing stopped. When they received your response to the RFE, they re-started processing your case, because it was not complete prior to receipt of the necessary evidence. The convoluted email was meant to say "We have received your RFE response. Since we already did some work on your case, it should not take too much longer, but we make no promises or guarantees."

Get it?
