Fiance Visa Question

Hi everyone, this is my first time in a forum :) Here's my story..

- I have a boyfriend, we started our relationship in 2003.

- I came here in the US in 2007 as a Permanent Resident.

- I went back to the Philippines December 11, 2010 to January 1, 2011

- I am about to take oath for US Citizenship on July 31 and want to file a petition

I am planning to file a petition for him as my fiance come August. I am aware that one requirement is that we meet in person within the last two years prior beginning the K-1 Visa.

Would it be safe to apply the fiance visa as early as August knowing that the 2 years minimum requirement that we should meet is just 4 months away?

We are trying to cut back on our expenses since we are planning to get married after the visa has been approved and the cost of the plane ticket is very expensive.

Please advise. Thank you so much for your time :)

Just be sure you can "prove" that you have seen each other within the 2 years. That is key.

Thank you so much for the very quick replies!!!

How about the form G325A, i can fill it out my self but do I need to send it to him to be signed and dated? Then eventually send it back to me to complete the application?

Another money saver is to take the passport photos digitally, send them via email, and then use an online program to create them so you can print them yourself. I have used epassportphoto.com a number of times and it has never failed!

Don't forget that you have to send in the evidence that you have met face to face within the last 2 years. Photocopies of all your passport pages, show entry stamps etc... Copies of your boarding passes are prudent. (itineraries don't count) Pictures of you 2 together. Remember, pictures alone do not suffice. They could have been taken at any time. If you have any receipts of anything you 2 did together, it helps. But the PRIMARY evidence is boarding passes of the flight you took coupled with the entry stamp in passport. With the pictures, it is wise to write lightly on back with felt tip pen the date and place the picture was taken.

Follow the K1 Visa guide here on VJ, as already mentioned, it's a terrific guide! Also, wouldn't hurt to attach (frontload) as much evidence of relationship as you can include with your petition (mentioned in the guide). That will reduce chances you are delayed by any RFEs from USCIS. Good Luck on your Journey!
