Advice for voluntary deportation and divorce

I have completely had enough of my USC wife and want to go back home to England. I don't have the money to fly back home and I can't borrow it. My only option is to call immigration and have them fly me home. Thought of doing VAWA but it would take too long and seems like a bigger nightmare to go through than what I'm already in.

Does anyone know the time frame from going into deportation to getting back home, or other useful information?

Extra information:

Married 4 years, 3 step children 2 children of our own.

Started Adjustment of status did medical and have not done anything else since, can not afford to complete Adjustment of status now.

Put it on a CC quicker and easier.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Some great advice here. Take a deep breath before you do anything rash like leaving the country and leaving your kids behind. Once you leave...think about how hard it may be to get back to see them.

Disagree. There are other options for getting home.

However, since yer here on an overstay, please show up at yer local USCIS office, ask for the ICE Shift Supervisor, and let them know you are an overstay and want to be deported, after being held in the ICE jail ..

Good Luck! Don't bother to pack a kit - just show up this morning.

SingleDad2usc, I fully understand ticket prices as I worked in the airline industry for many years, thanks very much.

Ok so you entered the US legally, but have remained illegally for years on the backs of your kids, only now after all these years are you trying for a GC. You do voluntary work, I get it you're a GOOD person

I think mate you need to be more caring, at least as much as you are expecting others to be of your situation, yes I've read it don't you worry.

JohnF, really think hard about your options, you leave your kids to the hands of Lord only knows and they may never forgive you, nor you forgive yourself.

Don't go the deportation route, biggest mistake you could make.

Good Luck!!

How bouts you contact your embassy and see if they can help. Remember if you have been out of status you will have a hard time returning to the US ever.

SingleDad2US what I want to say to you would get me banned so

I understand your position. If this marriage can't work and you have not AOS'd yet, go home. You are not in a financial position to stay in USA for your children. At least returning to England you can obtain employment to support them. Those are the facts.

Personally, I would contact the British embassy and tell them of your plight to get some robust advice before informing the authorities that you are 'out of status'. Who knows, the embassy may be able to help you with a flight. If not, handing yourself in for deportation is the last option, not ideal but at least it will get you home.

Good luck!

I agree with BethandBilly and Belinda - seems like since SingleDad2US has gotten all he can from his other threads (18 pages of him asking for info/help) now his newest pastime seems to be belittling others that sincerely are looking for the VERY same thing he wanted in his other threads...

Compassion, empathy and information.

How about just leaving your negativity/judgement at the door OR if you can't (or don't want to) just don't say ANYTHING.

I understand this is probably not an easy decision for you. I will point out given your overstay you will get a 10 year ban so you'll not be able to come back here to see kids and unless you fly them to you (which requires your wife's permission), you probably won't see them for a LONG time. I'm sure you've thought of all this but I just wanted to put that out there.

To answer your question, I would also agree with contacting your embassy. A friend of mine was stuck in the UK and he walked a heck of a long way during winter to get to the embassy. They first asked whether a friend or family member could help with the flight costs and my husband got a call. The amount was only a hundred or so. Have you asked friends/family back home? Do you have a credit card you could use? Can you get a loan?

If you are still a UK citizen, your embassy must help you. Its their job. I was reading that if you are ever in trouble in a foreign country to contact your country's embassy. They will help you in some way. Just explain your situation.

Overstaying though = 10 year ban.

And SingleDad...you STILL haven't been banned from this site yet or taken away by ICE officials? Surprising.
