Visiting America from Morocco?

Hello everybody!

I am 19 years old, and am completing a college internship at Disney (long story) Anyways, I met many fabulous people. One of my co-workers is from Morocco, and we became really good friends. We go watch movies, and she cooks for me and my co-workers all the time. Anywaaays, I was ignorant about the whole Visa into America thing, because I have personally traveled into other countries with just a passport and thought it was the same for everyone in the whole world. Sometimes when I'd come over she'd be skyping her family and we'd all say hello, blah blah blah and it was all good. Other times she'd be skyping with her cousin, whos the same age as me! During one of these sessions, she went to take a phone call and me and her cousin just started talking, and we hit it off instantly. That was about 6 months ago, and we've kept in constant contact, skyping eachother and emailing. She even sent me something for my birthday! I've always wanted a friend from another country and it's like having a really cool penpal or something.

So anyways, me and her are pretty close, and I want her to come visit me when I go back home to Hawaii! We're strictly friends, she's engaged and everything, but she's never been out of her country and I want her to see mines! I've researched it a little, but it seems to be very hard for people from that country to get a tourism visa to visit here. Her cousin is here because she won some type of lottery or something (i don;t really understand the concept) So knowing the background story, do you think it'd be very difficult for a Visa to get approved for her? Should i just travel there?

Thanks for your time!

The issue is for most they can't show strong country ties. If she is still a student it will be hard for her to show reason she would return. Some have to show apt lease, bank accounts, if in school letters of academics, but still that won't convince most CBP (that person at the border) you will return. And I would gather she is young since you are students and well a young person on holiday traveling.

Maybe since you said she is engaged wedding receipts and upcoming invite to show she has to return to her country to wed.

Do however ask others in your Moroccan forum there may be some very specific things she will need or as in my situation with my husband in Lagos its a No WAY.

I wish you all the best.

Morocco is a very hard embassy to get a tourist visa from as it is a high visa fraud country. Her best bet is strong ties to the country through real estate, bank accounts with sizeable balance, acceptance letters to a good university in Morocco, perhaps marriage invitations for her. Most females in Morocco don't meet these requirements unless they are from an affluent family. I can tell you the immigration officer would be very curios as to why an engaged woman is traveling across the world to visit another man. If she can get passed all this their is still no guarantee. Having gone through Casa with my husband I saw first hand people leaving the consulate in tears. It is a long shot but if she thinks she can swing it then it is up to her.
