I split my younger years living with my dads family which meant attending a Quaker church. They aren't anything like they were during my grandparents day but if you look at the two branches related to the Quaker church which is the Mennonite and the Amish you get a gist of what trying to live by the Bible is all about. It's too much for me to handle. That's just their take on it though.

The Bible comes right out against homosexuality...no gray area there and no real way to try and twist the meaning of it. I mean that's one of the few black and white versus in the bible.

Prove it or shut it.

The Amish and the Mennonites are both Anabaptists. The Quakers are not. Neither the Amish, nor the Mennonites are "branches" of the Quaker church. The Quakers are similar but they aren't related at all.

Also, the Anabaptists are an extreme example (though the Amish I've met are actually awesome people -- I just don't believe in their lifestyle).

As for the Chik-Fil-A thing...there are plenty of companies I refuse to support because of my ethical beliefs. And there are plenty of people who will still support the companies I choose to boycott. Who cares?

The Catholics crack me up...as do most Christian cults. I mean where else can you break every rule in the book, confess to another living human being and be absolved of your sins by paying a penance of X amount of "Our Fathers" and "Hail Mary's". It's like a free pass and then some.

Anyone even mildly amused that gay groups are talking of boycotting Chik-Fil-A needs to remember that it was religious right groups like Focus on the Family who started boycotting companies like Disney for offering health benefits to domestic partners. Gotta love the hypocrisy of the Right.

This is a politics and religion forum. Someone dedicated a whole forum to the two most explosive and controversial subjects in the world.. Why in hades would anyone have such a forum, and then have a moderator in it that constantly deletes argumentative and controversial posts and threatens to ban people for bickering and arguing with each other. . That would be like building a boxing ring, giving people gloves then arresting.them for boxing. We have two Presidential candidates that constantly attack each other and Bicker. Heck you can't have politics without finger pointing and heated debates.

This is a free board, and whoever owns it has a right to enforce what ever rules they wish, but really don't understand why it is such a problem when people bicker fuss and debate in a politics and Religion forum. everyone should enjoy equal protection under the law even Liberals and Gays. i don't agree with Chick-fil-a's stand on Gay marriage but I do admire them for sticking to their principals, in a world that tends to crucify anyone who is not politically correct. Iam sure they are not to worried about a boycott. Every Store I go to is always very busy.

Who cares if the homosexuals choose to boycott a resteraunt? What's that mean to some of us? That it's a place to eat that's most likely free of homosexuals? They don't have any chick-a-fills up here but if they did you can bet your ####### it would be high up on my list of places to eat at.

The important thing to remember is that you can't call yourself a "Good Christian" and support homosexuality.

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. The point was missed. If boycotting Chik-Fil-A is bad, then all boycotting is bad. I happen to disagree. Consumers should 'vote' with their wallets. If everyone were a conscientious consumer, the market would be a lot different than what it is today.
