So I just received my EAD card, so happy!! But I have so many question marks roaming around my head of what I do from here, and how it works? I have no idea.

Thought maybe you guys have any guidelines or good tips for me. :)

For starters, When I apply for work I don't need a social security nr? I just show my card? I can only apply for a social once my green card comes right?

And when I get hired I get paid by check? Since I can't open my own bank account....?

Thanks for all your help!!

I appreciate all answers :)

You can open your own bank account, i opened one at bank of america with just my passport and drivers license from my country. You will need a social security number to work. So you should go and apply with your EAD card, passport and birth certificate. Go on the social security site and see what you need.

You can get a SSN with an EAD. Most places around here will hire you without a SSN but you won't get paid until you have one. Most places do not require direct deposit, so a check shouldn't be a problem.

Congrats on getting the EAD :)

Thank you! :D I'm SO EXCITED! I've been staying at home since March, and I can't wait to get out and look for work + meet new people. etc. I feel like a cave woman and I need to explore new possibilities now. LOL
