I was curious if there was a charge for the seminar Ema has to attend and also is there an exit fee? I know there is a terminal fee, but I read something about a fee being attached to a visa upon exit from the philippines. Any ideas from those that have recently departed?

Yup CFO charges a fee for the seminar. And yup there is an exit fee also, along with the terminal fee.

CFO fee is on their site: http://www.cfo.gov.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1348:fiancee-spouses-and-other-partners-of-foreign-nationals&catid=140#ThirdA

The exit fee is either 1620 or 1650 pesos, I wasn't paying attention when my wife went to the counter at the airport, busy sitting on our luggage. If you purchase the airline ticket in the Phils quite often its included so you don't need to pay at the airport.

And the terminal fee is still 550.(or 500... LOL!)

The CFO seminar and guidance/counseling is a requirement by the Dept. of Foreign Affairs before she will be allowed to depart from the country. I took mine at St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation (Quezon City) just recently (July 18) and paid PHP650 (P250 for the counseling and P400 for the CFO registration fee). She should receive 2 certificates and a sticker in her passport. She should undergo this the soonest time because CFO is implementing a new regulation (starting July 16, 2012) of limited slots per seminar (12 attendees, first come first served).

There's a Phils Tax of P1620... confirm with the airline company if this is already included in the charges. For my ticket at Delta it already is. Then prepare PHP750 for the terminal fee + security fee at the airport.

Thanks for the replies. I remember when I got ready to leave to come home Jan 1st at Mactan international. Ema had just left and I was down to about 100 peso. I got up there and they told me 750, I was like wth? I thought I was going to have to sell my watch, but a guard told me there was an atm down the street. So here I go lugging my bags at midnight to the atm, luckily my card worked. Talk about relief.
