We filed for AOS and EAD, since we had to co-file the I-130 we couldn't afford AP as well. And then the EAD came but G got screwed because he was offered a job verbally just before Thanksgiving and then they kept putting him off with a start date and retracted the offer in the middle of December. So we essentially lost six weeks because then he couldn't start looking again until after New Year's. Our interview was January 13, he finally worked his first temp job the following Monday (though he did get offered one to start on the 13th and obviously had to turn them down) and then started work for good about a week later. So in other words the EAD was really a waste of money, though he was able to get his DL with it.

We only filed AOS and EAD. I figure if an emergency came up we would file for emergency AP. Plus with the AOS interviews being scheduled so fast now a days we figured we wouldn't need it.

Filed for all 3. I'm glad I got the AP, even though it had to be issued as an Emergency in the end, since they weren't doing squat about the 'real' one. If we didnt have the AP, we'd be in serious trouble now.

Just got EAD approved, so the card should arrive soon. This is a good thing as no sign of an interview date yet. However, I wont be able to use it until end of May/start of June when we're back in the States and I have an SSN. Of course by that time we might well have an interview date, so the EAD might be a waste of money for us, we're yet to see on that one. However, I guess it will be nice to have so I can get my name properly on the bank accounts etc.

As others have said, if we knew what the processesing times would be (and had we not had an RFE) we probably would have done things differently.

Didn't have the cash for the EAD at the time... knew that by the time i had it it would be close enough to the interview date not to really be an issue so I never bothered.. didn't go for AP because I figured my family can come here for now.. after I get the green card we will likely be going there most of the time anyways...

AOS and EAD. I had no burning reason to need to return to Canada (and figured if there was, emergency AP would work), and Seattle is processing AOS at about a 6 month rate...we are exactly 6 months from NOA to interview.

Electricity is really just organized lightning.

Applied for AP in case of family emergency. I'll feel a lot more settled when I get it. Don't like the idea of not being able to travel outside the country if I wanted/needed to. If one of my parents was ill I would be on the first plane back to the UK. Wouldn't want to have to wait for emergency AP.

You left out " AOS and AP" in the poll. That's what I would have ticked off. I'll worry about EAD later in the fall. Right now I want to be able to travel back and forth to Canada whenever I feel it is necessary. I feel like a prisoner here not being able to go back to Canada even if it's just for a Sunday drive.....we only live 1 1/2 hours from the border. I do miss home A LOT but I couldn't bear to be without my husband either. But I do have to get AP for August...........I'm hoping and praying because my daughter is expecting her first baby (our 3rd grandchild) And I want to be home in September for my Dad's 98th birthday/family reunion............((((((((((HUGS))))))))))
