Thank you all for the information. I wasn't aware of complications with the B-2 visa and possible rejection.

We're happy together, but want some extra time together to ensure we're doing the right thing. We've been together nearly a year, we'd like some more time. I don't understand how people can just say "marry and get it over with", marriage is a serious and life long commitment, and we both want to be completely sure before doing it. Her family is well off at home and urging her to return, saying if she stays they'll cut her out of the family, that's a pretty serious decision. As for me, I have a career, home, and children to think about. While we both stand a lot to gain, we both stand a lot to lose should things not work out. This isn't a sham marriage to be done in a drive through chapel. We want a traditional wedding, in a church, with friends and family, and a reception afterwards. We want to get engaged in a few months, live together for 4-6 months to really get to know each other, then get married. The only way I can see to do this is a B2 visa, unless there's another option.
