I think you've been informed correctly but may not have understood what the one year/6 months meant. As an LPR, you're supposed to reside IN the United States permanently(greencard= LPR ="lawful permanent resident"..). Establishing residency overseas is a no-no. Visiting is fine however visiting for too long may not be seen as just visiting. Having a re-entry permit at least shows you have the intention of returning. If you're planning on aiming for US citizenship, please study the requirements for it too.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

thank u,I just finished reading that.

Well I have no taken up residence here either,I dont own nothing,no job either,no bank account and nothing but mother´s body and dad, college was opened in 2004 before even knowing I was falling in love, getting married and moving to USA.

So when dad consulted bout college he found out the vacancy stayed open during these years...not even freezing studies,(no intention of coming back to live here) simple the vacancy was there! its a private college,Im guessing things like that suppose happens,I dont know.

what is important is that dad did not opened room 4 me in college this year(if that was a take up of residence too)with the id from this country, the info was there already...he paid for it too, not me, so nothing attaches me here but mainly the Emergency of what happenned to mother...records of college r going with me to USA to show thme at the port of entry i did use my time studying while caring for my mother, and hopefully later to some college around where i live my intention of validating subjects and if i will be able to transfer :) for that case also...parents were given in 2004 or 2005 i cant remember right now a "power" (by law)2 do any paper work in events like due to my permanent absence of the country i was born. So yes, as u can see i gave up everything to live and continue living in USA, d bad luck came to me later...

Now the only complicated thing about what I read is that...it does not states clearly one should get the re entry permit if it is over 6 months,it says something about damaging the status of residence but the suggestion keeps saying later: If you are a LPR planning to travel outside of the United States for 1 year or more, it is important that you apply for a reentry permit ...before you depart the United States...

Now if i should interpret that is saying clearly get it anyways if its going to be over 6 months...???

why? when uscis consulted? said over a year rentry permit ...but under a year use the green card?To me it sounds difficult to understand...that is why I did have the vague idea that under a year i was fine, not thinking neither planning of going over 6 months either or doing it on purpose...the digging in for information came to me in june...not even 6 or before 6 months, but 7...! track of time ,yes, lost, my shoes dont give them to noone seeing mother bleed for no reason and running to ER...her health through months did not got an improvement, until june and i could not control it...my return ticket(the info going to get it tomorrow!!!)))...which i did not use of course... and simply lost...hopefully will help me too to prove i had in mind my mother getting better sooner...or a shorter visit, leaving US was kind of in a hurry too...she was alone from august till i arrive...so i did have the damn pressure on me to run to her!dad being gone from home did not help either, but he helped whith what he could in the time right time to get the ticket 4 me to see her, iam glad and feel lucky had not use a house for old people...like i said i was looking for her, because he did think twice...bout coming back to be wiht mother as he used too :).they r aware now about what i could face when i get back home but they both keep their opinion for themselves because i asked them too,who needs an extra heart attack? noone...and to add more worries to my worries not either...

Well...things in general sound hard to understand, hope? i dont know where is it now... i still feel under God´s mercy.that is all :) good day! and thank u!

Hello,I couldn´t void to give u advice, I was on this website, reading this morning, and your topic is marked as "top",then i read it and decided to advice you. Few years ago we had an account in visa journey but our situations are over.So I created a new account to only write u,your mother´s situation touches me as well as your whole situation, but its not important why, this is all about you,ok...

I wont question you at all but I do hope you pay attention to my opinion:

First of all: Please dont keep posting anything else...if you already know and knew that your life is in the US, just be back, get your mothers medicine as you say, wait for your father to be back and come back!

Second: Bring anything you have with you,the documents from the Dr,the pictures, college papers, and all the ties you still have to US. To me it is really clear you did not go on a "vacation" it was to take care of your mother and then later of course, your father offered you to do something else "studying" while still taking care of her, "but your intention were not a vacation and then study by free will"...this could be something else, get it?

thirth: Your intentions of your trip, if questioned at the POE , they will come out by themselves,if asked : Be honest about the why? or what was the reason of your trip or long trip?...you also have prove of that,if not, ask for it! (not doubing you do have what you have) ask the dr the exact date when your mother broke her leg, all I want to say is while still there before coming back to US ask for anything else you think you might need, a letter from a teacher saying you were studying but taking care of your mother, why not? its also a nice option.

fourth: Dont write nobody, dont call nobody, you are already confused enought about the re entry permit, many still are...Iam pretty sure...they just dont talk about it...if asked, man...this is a hard one: "honesty" again will be the best solution: "no sir, i dont have a re entry permit. and then keep it like that...if there is a next question of why not? then be calm and dont panic, tell them again the truth. Just in case Im not a lawyer I wish I was one but I am not.

See, it is truth that the POE Officers are trainned to probably be very serious, to maybe not keep a smily face all the time, to maybe speak loud,(even tho each one of them has their own personality) but they are just doing their job in a professional way, remember they do look for delincuents, drugs deallers, terrorists, among other parasites who try to snick into our country, you are not one of them! I did read you mention you have a background, have your documents with you and answer them honestly again, if they ask you about it. Dont think they are heartless!! because they are not, they do a great job and are professionals.I am pretty sure The minimun they have is "commun sense" (anyone has it)because they are very respectable and very smart, and they do know when someone lies, so they might understand situations like yours which could be understood with commun sense.

answer anything if asked and keep it short,if they do want more details, you will know! go with "it" the way "it" goes.

Good luck and write me if you want.

I wrote you back.Hope I helped.

Only one thing i forgot about your question:I do feel empathy for your situation because my father died due to blood clots, one of them went straight to his lungs.Yes, in her case as her dr told you a blood clot might go to her brain, but thatd be a different matter. Dont worry, she is taking the medicines she is supposed to take.

You didnt ask me but I think the other health issues you told me she has , are what probably are affecting her skin making it "thinner" or "sensitive" and as consecuence of that the esporadic or frecuent bleeding, the bleeding becomes complicated because her blood is already "thin" due to the medicine/s she probably is taking.

I am pretty sure you already know this, just telling you what I know.

Dont worry, now, your father will be permanently with her.YOU did your part already.

good luck on everything!
