Ok,since 2010 Im divorced, never thought it would happens but it did. After the divorce,no job, empty pockets but i managed to travel from july till december to visit my parents( their money) to forget bout sadness and emotionally get better, really destroyed by ex, put me on the streets..literrally..among other things!...Well, I had a permanent address, not my own, just living there , yes for free, great house´s friends, the best ones!!,keept my drivers license,my last payment of taxes (2010) (in april ex and me were still married),but there was not bank account open.I am mentioning this NOW, before this last month of july 2012 and back then in 2010 and 2011 i had no clue bout the confusion that exist about that re entry permit, uscis says over a year, but 6 months maybe too...other websites say horrible stories, so I feel I know nothing, called uscis: one year, use your green card...but whats going on with the over six months but less than a year? STILL NOT A CLUE! and bout proof of ties to US I was not aware either also (I never planned staying over 6 months)Well that time I came back to U.S in peace, well rested, ready to keep going with my life!: I did go to secondary inspection, but telling the truth allways,POE officer Allowed me back home :)( due to ex, toooo long to explain here have a background but it goes in petty offense excemption, nobody talked bout details but when asked , have u ever been arrested?I said yes sir! etc etc, the officers saw or understood (i dont know how) the divorce was also related to my ex attitude anyways :) thanks god!) Once I was back over friends home :) with a bit of money from my parents bought a prepaid phone,to make phone calls,to receive, prospect jobs but in the midtime, even if my friends would give me 4 free anything or borrow me their car,etc i received 60 dollars a week (sent by money order by my parents)to eat :) and i did it every week till i could find a job, d background (even tho i have a motion letter, yes! free of guiltiness cause i always was!was making it hard to find a job and to find my own place, every apartment did denied me to rent it(parents, not rich people,ok?,just normal, were going to be ready to help me to pay for it if it worked out but it didnt...so i just keept staying over friends house. A commet!!...by the way I dont know why if my documents were and are showing my status as inocent why nobody gave me a chance???I even have education,I dont know...maybe its because of the state, too conservative?just in case someone is wondering,NO! I DID NOT KILL ANYONE, I HAVE NOT ABUSED ANYONE I HAVE NOT RAPED OR STEAL...its states small stuff but yes the name sounds ugly i suppose :( and prospect employers did not even want to go throught the letters i had, simple huges! "we are sorry, we cant hire you..."someothers..maybe in a few years...well :(...Well Since I arrived in december till i left in november I did try to get a job, had to use my friend´s car to go to interviews but nothing hapenned till ...yay!!!october!!! when i was offered a position...BUT...the damn BUT or my luck... mother had gotten a broken leg in august and she was just finewith it... but her blood cloats were opening(or something like that, she bleeds badly on her legs, i have pictures of this now , now that iam aware of a few things)So, i had to decide...get the job? visit mother and come back in less than a year?I thought ,now, she is alone(dad, a retired officer ,was not living with her, their own life situation tho, happilly he´s coming back to stay together again :)) so what do I do???i said to myself...i keept the employer´s word,( a letter got it few days ago, after finding bout the ties to US stuff)to get the job when I get back to USA! :)So I left home to visit her and dad (even tho they were living different places)and to mainly take care of her health till she could get better and dad would rethink! LOL :)...on facebook i have several posts wiht dates of december when asked by friends i would always say the truth mainly visiting,or visiting my parents, or visiting and only to my close friend id tell them the whole thing about mother being sick. So, i arrived at her place,we have been going to her medical sessions,to get her meds,etc...close to january...close ot BD, my dad told me:" hey...if u stay taking care of your mother 4 a while i want to be gratefull to you,do u want to continue what you started in 2004??...he was talking about college...and he said but do it in the night or evening, so you do care for your mother in the day ...and i said, it sounds good to me, dad!So i have been caring for her health and studying.Now...a month ago did found out bout the craziness about re entry permit...nobody knows nothing 4 sure...number 2 ...counting...november till now is: 8 months...2 months over the 6th...mother is getting better now, dad has rethought bout being back... classes done...but fell stucked and in troubles...because it was going to be always less than a year 4 me ot stay here...but those stories about over 6 months without a re entry permit are freaking me out!i was arranging already a place to stay 4 her,one she could afford, great thing dad decided to come back Ima leaving anyways and we talked seriously bout a lot of stuff, even tho from the bottom of my heart if something happens to her again, YES SIR! I would travel again because she gave me life...of course prepared tho! What advice can I get from anyone?? I have not been working in US...neither here in the country I am now...so wot documents for filing taxes do i have???ZERO!IAM TALKING ABOUT PROVE OF TIES, i do have the documents from mother health, her sessions, pictures of her, gross ones but the reality...papers from college too (someplace i read it said studying aboard or studying is seen as good thing????)i have my state drivers license, no lease, no rent but I keep the same adress uscis has on file as well as part of my belongings,i have friends too in US,no bank account tho, from where? what money? no job for almost 2 years!! only the letter from my employer saying i will get the job upon my return!!S.O.S please...any advice...but please dont tell me get a lawyer! because it would be like laughing at my face...Iam bout to buy my ticket back home :) but Ima afraid I might live a nightmare??at the POE??Im an only child...curse for someone or a lovely life to others...at least it exaplains a bit too why i became the one who could care for mother if my lovely daddy wanted to go crazy on his own...hehehe, they love eahc other you know, its just i think dad got tired for a while. She is 78...not a young person, and he is young a few years but they do make a lovely couple and been married for many many years!

i feel like asking for mercy? to I dont know who?I have never lied to POE officers or USCIS and I never will but how to explain better or what to say if they ask me other documentation to say why i stayed 8 months here...besides mother´s health and the college stuff ?what else can i do about my ties?thank u!

Best I can figure from this ramble is you are trying to reenter somewhere, but you have a ticket back 'home' and you can't get a job, but you're guaranteed a job. Also your parents paid you to travel for 6 months so you could 'recover' from the divorce, your friends let you stay at their house for free, and you get $60 from 'someone'.

The question you're asking is how you can prove ties to wherever it is you're trying to reenter, and you want to know what to do.

Would that be a correct assessment?

Ok let me see if I understand you.

After your divorce you went to visit your family for 6 months, then you returned to the US and you were staying at a friends house.

You have been looking for work, and apartment with no luck, then your mother breaks her leg.

Then finally you get a job offer in Oct, then your mother has complication from the broken leg(blood clots), at this point you were back in the US for 11 months Jan to Nov. That is when you leave again to go care for her.

While caring for your mother your father offers to send you to college/night classes. You go to school and take care of your mom.

You still have a job waiting for you in the US and you want to return to the US now after 8 months of being away, and you are afraid that they will turn you away? Because you think you do not have enough ties to the US?

Did I get this right?

Did I get this right?

yes, i think u did :)

Ok, I paragraphed it!:)every paragraph says something u need to pay attention, please :)

yes, my ticket is back home...where else than US?i really didnt think saying "back" "home" or "home" was going to be a trouble, the other house is my parents place.

The job was not there for a loong time, december 2010 till october 2011...i left november 2011 to see my mother due to her health situation and she being alone.

The letter for the job i got it recently, before it was the employer´s word only (decided to ask 4 a letter after i found out about the craziness about the re entry permit and prove of ties)

My parents paid my ticket to go to visit them after my divorce in 2010...till december , never went over 6 months!that time.from november 2011 and this i ditn mention it above till now...they paid for it too.

my friends have allowed me to stay over their home for free after the divorce...when being in USA...still have part of my belongings there.

the 60 dollars were money roders from my parents,to eat every week! even tho my friends would always offer me help in these matters.

now i have stayed 8 months, did not plan on it..it was always thinking :"less than a year"...but never thought it was going to be more than 6 months....and i did not digg into the craziness of opinions there are on the website about that re entry permit...aslo her health probelms its something I can not control.

Iam out of U.S.A.

There are Several facts to consider about my situation and then read the final questions...there is a huge background of stuff that leads me to say: any advice? what should i do to show why i stayed over 6 months...(now thta I know)more than my mother health and the chance dad gave me to study while caring for her, studying...i have no other prove if POE ask...I was not ready for this...WHY THERE IS NO CLEAR STUFF ABOUT WHO NEEDS A RE ENTRY PERMIT!! ITS REALLY FREAKING ME OUT!...

AS TIES...after finding out the over 6 months staying...only have drivers license and letter from employer...nothing else...the adress is true and real but i dont pay rent, lease, conrtract...etc etc

thelastone - I think you are trying to say that you are a Green Card holder that left the country to help your sick mother. You did not know you had to apply for a re-entry permit and you have been out of the country for 8 months.

Now you are afraid of what will happen when you return to the states and go through POE because you do not have much to prove your ties to the USA.

I think you are looking for suggestions on how to handle the re-entry to the states/POE situation.

Does this clarify the situation?

I don't think you will have a problem returning,(nothing is guaranteed though) you still have a place to live with your friends that is the address USCIS has and that will be the address you say you are returning to if asked. When you are returning home to the US if you are asked why you were gone so long just explain how your mother broke her leg and had complications after with blood clots, and how you were also a student taking classes while she recovered. You have all the documents for this if they want to look at it. You also have a letter showing you are returning for work.
