Pakistan to US: Replace drones with jets

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. and Pakistani officials say Pakistan's intelligence chief will head to Washington late this month to resume counterterrorism talks suspended over a deadly border incident last year that killed two dozen Pakistani troops.

CIA Director David Petraeus and his Pakistani counterpart will start at an impasse, with the U.S. already determined to reject Pakistan's demands to end CIA drone strikes. Pakistan wants drones limited to gathering intelligence, leaving the targeting of militants to Pakistani jets.

Yet each side is also signaling willingness to take confidence-building steps to start sharing intelligence again, as they did before the Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan.

All officials spoke anonymously to discuss sensitive strategic matters.

The White House and CIA declined to comment.

What's Pakistan talking about, they can't even control their own country.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

...same with Canada and Mexico ...and so...drone em !

the underpants bomber came from England

drone em !

WE might as well make a declaration that we own the world - so do as instructed or get droned

end of story

ps Nobody will ever drone us will they ?

The rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everybody else and nobody would bomb them

Pakistan can barely survive; they have all military and financial help from US.

So it’s like get help from US taxpayers money and challenge US…..

Canada or Mexico is not breeding ground for terrorist, since 1947 pakistan has always used the terrorist, where they openly cannot fight with the uniformed military.

Pakistan has both strategic and tactical nuclear weapons

That is nuclear weapons that can be fired by artillery

population...176,745,364

It's quite ironic that we are threatening to go to war with Iran in case they develop nuclear weapons, then we send aid to Pakistan, a nuclear power, at the same time as bombing their territory

I find it hard to understand why Pakistan allows foreign planes to fly over over their country and kill their citizens..

I think the US would probably object if Pakistani drones appeared above Alaska, so I don't think this will continue much longer

If they are a terrorist nation, then why haven't they supplied nuclear weapons to terrorists ?

Check out A.Q Khan who was the leading scientist on their nuclear program who admitted to selling the technology to Iran, Libya and North Korea.

He was just put under house arrest for couple years and then released.

The only reason they let US bomb is coz they themselves know they cannot stop US from coming in, if they do and US stops the financial aid being given to country, they would not be able to sustain.

US is also aware the nuclear technology Pakistan has is from china and the delivery mechanism also has been imported from China.

Why would they sell Iran the technology but not a bomb ? Iran can afford it.

Doesn't make sense that they would allow the US to drone their citizens because they need the US money, then they would sell nuclear know how to Iran but not a bomb, even though Iran has plenty of money to pay for one.

If you are selling them the know-how, then what's the diff between doing that and selling them the bomb

So it all sounds a bit Donald Trump/Sarah Palin/Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck to me

I can't see any nation allowing another nation to fly over its country and kill its citizens for long - the situation can't last

Actually, in a place like Yemen it can because the government there is totally owned by the US - like in Afghanistan..

..but Pakistan isn't like that and they are too proud to let it continue

If Pakistan is selling the technology that gave them the bomb, it would be extremely ironic, that the same research that gave the Israelis the bomb (and then South Africa and India and Pakistan) would end up in Persian hands. The circle completes, and Israel has nobody to blame but themselves for proliferating the bomb in order to raise the funds to attack their neighbors.

Meanwhile back in the real world the Pakistani government almost got their lunch handed to them by the Taliban and would have been chopped mince meat if it wasn't for US intervention that included NATO forces hitting the Taliban hard and heavy on Pakistan's western border with Afghanistan.

It's US money and arms that keeps the Pakistani government alive and well. And you can save that "too proud to let it continue spiel" for someone who's just had a recent lobotomy.
