My Fiance is flying to Canada this Saturday to attend my K-1 Fiance Visa interview on Monday July 23rd. We are planning for him to tell the Border the truth, that he is coming to attend the interview with me, and is then returning to the US on Tuesday (he has a two way ticket) because he needs to return to work on Wednesday. He's already going to have his employment letter with him (since I need for my interview).

Are the Canadian border people familiar with the K-1 Visa? He's taking with him my interview confirmation letter, and NOA2 that shows him as the petitioner and me as the beneficiary, I also believe it shows that once I get accepted I have 90 days to marry once I enter the US.

If they are familiar with the K-1 process, then they shouldn't really question whether or not he is planning to stay in Canada.

I'm just a worry wart I know :P

Yes they are familiar. the only thing you need for your fiance to bring are the required documents for the interview. there shouldn't be any concerns on him coming into Canada. Breathe,,,,,, and all the best on Monday.

Unless he's had previous border crossing issues, he shouldn't have any problem. Also he doesn't need to volunteer that much details unless asked. His ties to the U.S. sound pretty solid.

Everything will go smoothly, try not to worry too much about your interview :)

He was denied about 2 years ago when trying to visit me, due to a misdemeanor on his Criminal Record from over 7 years ago, but he applied for rehabilitation and was granted the Pardon so he has a letter stating he is "No longer Criminally Inadmissible to Canada" He plans on presenting this to the border agent. Should have added that in my main post sorry :P

I know they will ask him for the reason of his trip, he's planning on saying "To accompany my Fiances during her k-1 visa interview" Is that fine?

I am an 'oldie' .. got married in Michigan last november. That is PERFECTLY fine. Just as long as he has all his documents nice and organized, ready to produce. The interview will go great... we all did it. :)

That explains a lot :) Sounds good. He can get into more details if need be but I am pretty sure a ''so she can move indefinitely to the U.S. with me and be granted a Green Card'' would also make pretty clear to anyone what a K1 is.

He/you should perhaps refer to the K-1 as a 'fiancee visa to the US' rather than by the K-1 designation as Canadian border guards are more likely to recognize it that way than by the K-1 visa designation. Canadian border authorities know Canadian visas - not so much American visas since they very seldom deal with them. It is perfectly fine for him to say he is coming into Canada to accompany you to the US Consulate in Montreal for your Fiancee Visa interview and will be flying home the following day. And yes, have copies of the documentation, just in case.

Good luck at the interview..

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

How exciting!!!

My fiancé came to my interview back in may this year. he was asked for anything at the airport in Montreal and at the interview, the security guy didn't want to see his passport :).. My interview was easy and very smooth.

You are going to feel so much better having your partner with you :)

Good luck!

Thank you! Unfortunately we ran into a small problem of his Passport Book being expired, however he has an appointment at an agency that does on-site passports, and they told him he can get it the same day. I'm really praying this is the case, otherwise he'll likely decide to drive 14 hours on his Passport Card. I really hate when things like this pop up last minute, but what can we do..

@ Jen and Jon, that sounds nice! I know he will definitely love to have you join him. I felt so much better knowing that my fiance will be there with me.
