On Tuesday, Washington’s secretary of state announced that his state will become the first to allow residents to register to vote on Facebook. Using a Microsoft app that may be accessed through the office’s Facebook page, users will be able to complete the registration process at their computers.

Back in 2008, Washington was the second state to offer online voter registration through the MyVote system. Now over a dozen states do so and Washington aims to make the process even easier by making the system accessible via Facebook. The app, which has been in the works since last fall, could go live as early as next week.

The state hopes that this move will provide a more user-friendly registration process for residents. ““In this age of social media and more people going online for services, this is a natural way to introduce people to online registration and leverage the power of friends on Facebook to get more people registered,” said Shane Hamlin, co-director of elections.

one post removed and returned below minus offensive content

This is the same state that gives drivers licenses to illegals and now their using a social media site to allow voter registration? What a joke and just one more reason I'm so happy I left that now sorry excuse for a state. That state is going bankrupt down there and just last year tried to levy a strong arm tax against goods being shipped from there to Alaska. Alaska put the beat down on them quick like by threatening a big time oil tax seeing how Washington's Cherry Pt. refinery gets all it's oil from Alaska. Californians destroyed that state so bad like that's it's a pathetic remnant of what it used to be.
