Hi VJers

We had been following up with Delhi embassy and we finally received the following mail as a reply

Sent from my Nokia phone

Subject: RE: Request an Update - on i-130 petition - Dated 09/07/2012

Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your inquiry.

The approved I-130 was forwarded to Consular Section Mumbai on 7/13/2012. You may wish to contact at their public email inquiry box infousdelhi@vfshelpline.com<mailto:infousdelhi@vfshelpline.com> for further case status.

Sincerely,

DHS/USCIS

New Delhi

Does this mean I-130 is approved through and through? Now we just wait for the Packet to arrive from our local consulate i.e. Mumbai right?

What next? I thought there will be a tracking mechanism on the USCIS website. But we dont have a 13-character application receipt number yet... Guides us DCFer VJers..!

This is a DCF case filed in Delhi, not applied in US.... correct?

Your best bet is sent the email or may be make a appt with NWD as USC and talk to them...

Yes filed in Delhi... cos DCF means we have been residing in India...

We have forwarded a mail to vfs helpline guys. Hoping to hear on our case..

This has happened freakin' sooner than we imagined... getting our AOS docs ready now is a task!!

Thanks Kennard and Tru_loves_journey!! :)

the real journey begins now!! wooo!

We applied mid April and still have not received a single piece of paperwork from Mumbai. I did call Delhi and they told us that it had been approved and forwarded. Supposedly you should receive a magical file number and then a Packet 3 (which is also on the US Consulate Mumbai website) if I understand correctly. It is suppose to be within 4-12weeks of your filing. However, as I said, we are sitting amid week 15 and despite my many emails and phone calls to VFS, we seem to be stuck. Honestly think they lost our file but I'm still holding out hope and think we should hear back something this coming week. I'm glad things are going smoothly for you.

Hmmm... smoothly... well we are having sleepless nights smoothly... everytime we get a mail or a call... thers so much anticipation.... we are keeping our fingers crossed and constantly checking with the consulate.

Did u guys visit Mumbai consulate? If yes wat do they say?

Try and write out to some higher authorities... other VJers can suggest something here...

Hang in there! All the best to both of us

No we live about 5 hours away by train so we haven't tried to go visit the Mumbai consulate. Since the embassy have turned over everything to the VFS people it is nearly impossible to do anything in a timely manner. Hoping to get back a reply via email in the next day or two. The only number I have for a real human being is for the lady in Delhi. No one in Mumbai :(. Frustrating as all get out. I am also always hopeful whenever the gate opens that it might be a courier with our stuff, never is. Here's to hoping!
