How do I go about getting a ID Card in CA were we live? We have already married. My wife's K-1 Visa Expires July 27th 2012. I have already gotten a Social Security Card and my I-485 Application/Packet was sent last week.

I am trying to get medical insurance coverage for my spouse and I believe one of these forms asked for PROOF OF IMMIGRATION STATUS.

Has anyone gone though this, any info will help.

Thanks

First, the K-1 visa expired the day she entered the US. The I-94 is where her immigration status is as long as it has not expired. You can use the I-94 to show lawful entry into the US. Otherwise you are going to have to wait for the GC as another posted in a similar situation. If possible get a CA ID and then use that as proof for immigration status as one would think the state of CA would not issue a state ID to a person in the US illegally  . But try to get this done before the I-94 expires or you might be waiting on the GC.

Good luck,

Dave

Check with your benefit administrator if you are trying to add your spouse to company or agency provided insurance. With my policy, the automatic enrollment for a newly married spouses is only 30-days after marriage.
