Hello, I'm Maggie. I'm an American Citizen wanting to bring my soon-to-be English Husband into the United States.

While looking at this site, it has really validated that things like this happen. People meet online through different (admittedly unconventional) ways and make things work among themselves. I feel that reading through some of your stories, aspirations just flow through me, its overwhelming. I am thankful that you all exist, even if I know not who you are, we are the same.

I guess a little background to our situation...

We met in March of 2010, through a common interest of ours on the internet.

By September 3rd of 2010 we decided to take the plunge and try a long distance relationship.

We met March 17th of 2011 for the first time. It was two weeks of bliss. He came to America.

August 15th of 2011, I took a trip over to England for another lovely two weeks.

Fast-forward to July 2012 and we have decided we need to do something to be with each other cause the wait is tremendous. We've been apart for almost one year without seeing each other in real life and decided that it was ridiculous to wait another year for my Italian citizenship so that I have an easier move into the UK.

With much thought, we think the best option for us is to get married and start our life in USA. (We're still working on that marriage part! Set for January of 2013!!)

I'm brand new to the visa process and have done a lot of research in looking into what forms I need to file and what it would cost but I feel that I need tons of help to understand what I am doing! Any help and tips will be much appreciated...

Thank you kindly :)

You basically have 2 choices. Either file a K1 (Fiance Visa) or a CR1/IR1 (Spousal Visa)

Here is a link that goes through them and compares them. Read through those and a lot will be explained to you. Then you will be able to ask more specific questions.

Comparisons

This will be a great start for you.

Good Luck

January 13th is probably not realistic. Assume 6 months from date of filing (without any errors or RFE), then another 15 days for NVC, then average wait for UK embassy interview is sitting right around 76 days.

We filed with a receipt date of Feb 17, 2012 (2nd filing after we screwed first one up). We still haven't got an NOA2, so even if it comes tomorrow, the chances of him being here by end of September is slim. I would suggest if you do make plans, they are refundable deposits.
