I 134 and NVC question

I'm working on my financial information to send to my fiance. If I make over the required income threshhold, do I have to include the letter from my bank, or if was not planning on including the account information as part of the dollar amounts, since I make enough to cover it without, can I leave that out?

My bank is a credit union that is very strict about that sort of thing, and I know this will be a nightmare to get from them.

Also, what exactly happens once the NOA2 is received? Do I need to start calling and asking for the case/file number? Or do they send that info to me? If so, how is it sent? I can't seem to find any actual info about the actual process beyond "start calling and gathering the info".

Thanks for any help!

If you're choosing to use income from a job (e.g. paystubs, letter from employer) for the I-134, you don't have to fill in the bank account details or provide a letter from the bank.

On the post-NOA2 process, have you checked out the K-1 flowchart? http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

VSC seems to be faster in sending approved petitions to the NVC, so you should probably be able to call them to receive your consular number.

After you get your NOA2 it should be received at NVC in 15 days (mine was recently 14 days, but they would say call back after 15 days if you call early). After NVC processes and sends to consulate, they send you a letter with a consulate specific tracking number. If you need this number sooner like for setting up medical, you could call NVC after the 15 days of NOA2 approval and they will tell you over phone.

If you are worried about letter from bank, you could always provide bank statements instead. This serves the same purpose, ie, deposits and current balance as well as established time. I printed 6 months and think it will be fine along with 3 years W2 and Tax Transcripts. (extra 2 years backup), as well as 2012 paystubs.

If you qualify with your income alone, no need to list any assets. You can leave all that blank. No need for a letter from the bank or any bank statements.

Here is what Kiev Consulate provides as a guideline.

6. EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT:

Any evidence from your American spouse/fiancé(e) which will show the consular officer that you and members of your family who will accompany you will not become public charges while in the United States. Documentation regarding financial support can be in any form – preferably one year of tax returns, W-2s, bank statements, earning statements, letters from employers. PRESENTING ONLY THE AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT I-134 FORM IS NOT SUFFICIENT . The I-864 form is not required for a fiancé(e) visa.

You could see if your country provides more specific guidelines as to what they are looking for well. Find country specific consulates using link.

Thanks for all the input.

I've read over the flowchart several times, and while it's helpful, it doesn't really explain how things progress as far as "now you'll wait to receive a letter from NVC", etc. There is a lot of useful info, but things get a little vague after the NOA2, at least in my opinion. Maybe I'm missing something, I'm not sure. I tend to work better with lists, etc to work from, though.

The petitioner will get a letter after NOA2 and also another letter after NVC forwards file to foreign consulate. At this point the foreign consulate will review file and send a package of instructions to the beneficiary. Part of the instructions include a medical exam (get vaccine records ready). They will also need police check from any country resided in for 6 months or more. Start looking into how to get police report.

Also review this.

There are consulate specific forms and procedures, so perhaps checking in your regional forum might help you get more detailed answers as to what to expect: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/

K1-Guide for Montreal <------- Link (if you haven't read it yet) specifically for Montreal... from NOA 2 onward.. good.gif

Hello from a CANADIAN beneficiary in Vancouver. (K1-VISA Approved last week).

In our case, after the NOA 2 (May 10th) USC received a letter from the NVC dated June 1st. Basically it was just an FYI , ..."your Canadian fiance will receive a letter from the US consulate/embassy where they will have their interview, it will instruct them what to do". The letter I received, from the US Consulate here in Vancouver was dated June 7th, and it was literally just instructions; a link for 'packet 3' (more forms). *We actually got our letters on the same day: June 10th . Coincidence? *

(Months ago, between the NOA 1 & NOA 2, I had read what 'packet-3' was, (Vancouver version) and did a lot of the required tasks. Vaccinations & such. Whatever I could do, that didn't require having a case number)

For my interview, my fiance only gave me copies of his past 3 years taxes to go along with the 1-134 'Evidence of Support'.

That's my Vancouver Consulate experience. (Not sure if Montreal is any different).

And my K1 was approved..

I think the Montreal Guide will be most helpful in your case.

Cheers & Happy Journey!

-ps- I came across your posting in the Canadian forum....

I found the sticky in the Canada portal, it answered most of the questions I had :)

We called today and the NVC told us our info had been sent to the consolate. Hopefully we're in the home stretch. I guess it will just depend on how quickly we get the interview. My fiance's been working on gathering what is needed for the third packet and interview for a while now.

Thanks for all the responses, I'm not sure what I'd have done without this site!
