Just curious regarding petition being forwarded to Manila

Hello everyone,

Katherine recently was able to schedule an earlier interview date at the consulate in Manila. Originally she had an August 24th appointment but she was able to secure an earlier date of August 15th. So it is definately possible to secure and earlier appointment by calling and speaking to someone from the embassy if appointments become available.

The question I have is; Is the embassy able to conduct an interview and give an approval without having the original petition forwarded from the NVC to Manila? The reason I ask is because ours still has not been forwarded yet, we have plenty of time however. There are many people who seem to secure appointments within 5 or 6 business days of receiving their Manila case number... So I cannot imagine the the NVC forwarding the petition that fast in every case in order for it to be there before these ultra fast appointments.

Regards,

Jesse

It took our physical case file two weeks to get to the embassy from the time it left the NVC. Everytime I called the embassy, they always mentioned that they needed to have the physical file to conduct the interview. Hope that helped.

I know you can do the medical exam as long as you have your MNL Case# and BPI Receipt#, but you can't schedule your actual interview until it has been input into the system at the USEM.

Ok well... We were able to schedule our appointment online as well as having an operator assist in rescheduling our initial appointment to an earlier one... And it has not been forwarded yet... Well hopefully it will be forwarded to the Manila embassy soon. Thanks for the replies :)

I wouldn't worry too much about your packet being in Manila for the interview, if NVC gave you the MNL # and did not tell you they are doing additional processing, it will be there.

I received an email from NVC about them sending our packet to manila but manila embassy has not emailed me or snail mailed me anything. :(

They should at least email us that they received our files. I followed the process to check the DHL tracking thing and I found it arrived on July 5.

The first few times I called they said the packet would be forwarded to Manila within a few days. The last time I called I was told that our petition is in "Additional Processing"

I asked what that meant and was basically given the "I don't have any further information for you sir" response. The operator I spoke to was very rude and

short with her responses... so I left it at that. So I do not know what their definition of "Additional processing" is exactly.

Thanks,

Jesse

I have been told that the files are scanned and the electronic copies of the files are there very fast. The hard copies take a bit longer to get there, and are shipped in batches to the embassy. If you have your MNL number, the additional processing should already be complete. I think you ran into a case of an acknowledgeable and rude customer service agent blowing smoke up your butt. They seem to have a lot of them, but then I think they get over stressed by all the stressed out petitioners calling to. Their job isn't one I would want. Just call back until you get a good customer service agent and you should get some better information.
