Dear Members,

I am currently working on my paperwork for the National Visa Center, specifically the I-864. My husband and I are currently living together in Egypt. My husband is not currently working, but has secured a part-time teaching position at a university in the US. We would like to include a letter from his employer that verifies this. Are there any specifications for this letter? Does it have to be on letterhead with a personal signature.

So far we have received an e-mail attachment that is not on any official letterhead and only has an electronic signature. So far it does not include any salary information, although it does include the specific courses he will be teaching along with the contact information of the department coordinator who wrote it. I have only found information on this forum about letters of current employment, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you wanting to use the offer of employment to satisfy the affidavit of support? Is the husband the USC or intending immigrant?

Thank you for your quick response! My husband is the USC and I am the beneficiary. My husband doesn't meet the requirements for the I-864 but we do have a qualified co-sponsor. We just want to include the letter of employment to help make our case stronger since my husband hasn't been employed in the US for over two years since he has been living with me during this time. We also wanted to use it to help establish his domicile in the US.

The more concrete the offer letter the better. Letterhead with original signature would be more persuasive than an email.

Other evidence such as bank accounts and securing a residence will also be helpful.
