My wife and I just did our 2nd AOS for the U.S., my wife is Filipina. We are engaged in the process of the applying for the 10 year green card, we've applied, paid, and completed the Bio-metrics; during this course, my wife was just recently laid off from her job. Her status is now "out of status" due to the fact that her 1st green card has expired. We also discovered that her passport has expired also.

My question is, if we renew her passport will that allow her to continue to seek employment, while the approval of the 10 years green card is pending. We have not done the face to face interview as of yet, we are assuming that's next. Does anyone have a similar situation or an answer? Before I burn more money I want to know if it's a good idea to have her password renewed, now, or wait until we have finished the AOS process.

Thanks in Advance

You could renew the passport and then get a infopass appointment and they will stamp the passport for one year until the green card gets approve
