My wife went for her interview for immigrant visa CR1 on June 26th 2012 and the interview took 1.5 hours, They asked every question possible under the sun. After the interview they asked that a updated I-864 be submitted along with her passport, since my brother is a co-sponsor and he has a new adress as of 2 months ago . The embassy needs to see the new adress. Anyway on June 29th she submitted her passport and the updated I-864 form to the embassy and the only thing they did was take down her phone number and told my wife they will call her to come pickup the passport and visa.

I called the state department today to see why its taking so long since others are getting theres in about a week or less. The visa specialist said the case is in Administrative review. I asked if she meant administrative processing she said no its different this is a administrative review, basically she said there is no min-max time limit it can be in administrative review and we just have to wait.she even implied that though rare cases have gone for a year in AR Anyone hear of such a administrative review and have a idea how long it usually takes on average? I dont like waiting but i will wait if i have to but atleast if i know how long to wait. I dont want to end up calling in a month and the embassy telling me we tried to call you but you never came to pick up our visa a month ago. Armenias phone and courier service is very unreliable.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Unfortunately there is no time frame for AP/AR. To check on your status weekly you can call DOS 202-663-1225 press 1 press 0.

Have case number, name and DOB of beneficiary ready.

When it is out of processing/review they will tell you but if the CO said they will call her then that is usually what they will do.

I would also write them and request that both of you will be emailed in addition to the call just in case she misses the call.

A guess of time length can be a few weeks to over a year ( like in my case 16 month).

Sometimes if you check in your regional forum you can see a pattern emerge, however each case is unique and therefore takes it's own time.

Sounds like they are reviewing your documents etc. internally to verify some things.

AP after an interview where no new information or documentation is requested, is actually about additional security checks. In the above described circumstance, the Consular IV unit is administratively reviewing the whole file including the new documentation. Senior staff will need to sign off before the visa is issued and sometimes those folks have a backlog of work. A month is a good expectation from submission to next contact but there's no limit and it may not take that long either.

Thank You all for the great response I appreciate it. My next question is Should i have a lawyer and or senator get involved since, in Armenia almost all buisness is done with a passport banking,id, etc? or will getting someone involved just make things worse and create more red tape?

Based on the situation you described, I would do nothing more than following up directly by email or phone yourself, and I would wait at least three weeks before doing that.

.

I waited 3 weeks before I sent a email to the embassy appox 4 days ago they still havent responded to my email. I tried calling the embassy but they said they can not answer case specific information via phone only email. I guess i need to be a bit patient. I will give them another week to respond if not I will send over another email. Again thanks for the insight helps alot.
