Same thing with hubby, did not believe I had all the info the lawyer was gonna tell us. I even was able to prove him wrong (the lawyer). he learned his lesson and it cost him $100, He then agreed to do it ourselves. If you have the time read, read, read.

Good luck with the process

I love VJ

THANK you folks for you ridicule , comments and inputs. Most of us have gone through critical stages of our visa journey, and sharing such experience is the reason this site exists. If the answers to the question posed were on the site, i would not have asked (at least i can read). I am assuming my own case is special, since reading guidelines on the site, i have not come across my own situation (having used an attorney). If u cannot help with questions asked, no need to ridicule me.

Best of luck in your respective endeavors, but remember, the journey does not end here...

alas, the guides are posted, and the content you need is in the wiki.

If you can't find it, please post back.

You still have a decision to make, to ditch the attorney at this stage, or no.

What your wife does past this point, all depends on attorney engagement, or no attorney engagement.

It's really hard to guide you, to assist you, to help you with steps, if the lawyer is still floating about.

However, the DIY steps are posted in VJ - it's on you to navigate and find them, then read them, then have knowledge acquisition.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I don't think anyone was ridiculing you. You are right, there are no guidelines here on how to clean up behind a lawyer. Sorry you are having to go through this. However, you HAVE received some good advice and also some guidance on how to proceed. Please empower yourself with the information here to keep your lawyer in check if you do proceed with him/her. Do not leave it completely in the lawyer hands.

Good luck..!!!!!

Thanks John and Mari and every one else, your points are valid. From my understanding, the next steps are to fill out the AOS and IV forms and send then over to the lawyer. I thought the procedures were quite different... I will have to fill out my IV forms today and send them off to my wife in the US, i hope she gets it by monday, she is already doing her own bit - the AOS..... quick question.....Do i need to attach the same documentary evidence (photos, call logs, emails, cards, etc) when sending off my IV package next week?

You don't have to but it would be a very good idea for Lagos. It won't be the "same" though. It will be "updated" to cover the time since the original submission. You'll then want to take more updated evidence of relationship to cover the time between now and your actual interview. Bear in mind though that the most important and compelling evidence or relationship will be related to the time you spend together in person. If that has been minimal, other evidence seldom overcomes the lack of time together.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Amen to this. Please keep saying and saying it again. Lagos is not the UK or Canada people be diligent and come with your full arsenal of face to face up in your face meetings. (just saying).
