Using foreign credentials in US

I would love to know more about your experience. Were your studies in the Philippines considered undergrad there? Or were you certified there and then had to re-do your studies here? Its hard to know if the education you receive abroad will be accepted here at the same level.

Yup they accepted my undergrad in SLP from the Philippines. There is a girl from India in my class as well, same thing. We both had our undergrads evaluated by WES, we took the GRE and TOEFL as well.

You need to have a bachelors in this degree, otherwise you need to take the prerequisite courses

I am in the same boat. I studied Genetics in Buenos Aires (Universidad de Moron) and was wondering what to do with my degree here. Is it worth it having it translated or depends purely of the person who is hiring you?

Hi!

If you do not have a graduate degree, I would strongly recommend applying to a grad program. Americans have huge loans and debts for undergrad, but grad programs usually have stipends that cover tuition and pay you a salary.

Grad programs will recognize your credentials to enter a higher level without problem. And after 2 years you can get a better paid job with your new degree, you'll have research experience in the US in your field, and will have it without having paid for school.

I had from Mexico: undergraduate degree in art, 1 one-year masters in cultural policies, and a masters in philosophy. I actually came by myself to Ohio to make another masters in fine arts. (Met husband while finishing school, and instead of graduating and going back to Mexico, we decided to get married)

Now, I am teaching at the university. They see my international education and experience as an asset, I have that extra compared to people that made all their studies here. I have no problem with my credentials since I have an American degree too, and didn't paid a cent for school.

(I think I was redundant, sorry, I am sleepy )
