Why do things get so damn ugly around here?

some of you have just taken things severely out of context and to a downright hurtful and attacking level.

hmmm, mocking a rude post that was directed at VJ? That might be considered attacking.

and then mocking an apology post directed at me & my friends? That might be considered attacking.

Making a new post about drama & implying others are attacking you? That might be considered attacking.

I did not attack you, BTW. I asked who made you Sheriff. You post around VJ like you own it, no one else does that - they have tact! I (and others) told you to stop making rude empty posts for the sake of it. That does not constitute an attack.

Geez. Stop whining.

Andy wrote me a PM asking me to help him after he dissed me in all of these threads, did I feel the need to make a whole post about it & complain? No. I PMed him back & said 'are you joking'. I kept it private & handled it as an adult.

As you said, "some have been downright hurtful and attacking".

Maybe it's because we all spend time trying to help each other and provide wise, experienced advice and words of wisdom. And as a thank you for taking the time and energy to help, we are told "I told you so - kiss my bumper" and then called "my bitches" by ungrateful, nasty people.

It doesn't matter if you think we are uptight. Adults don't generally respond to helpful people in a nasty, obnoxious way (while continuing to post questions that could easily be answered by simply reading the guides).

When that happens, things get nasty.

Bottom line, people can post whatever the hell they want. But it's wise to be prepared for the consquences.

Secondly, making posts about drama causes more drama.

I rarely post on Off Topic but read it daily.....there are a couple of people who I am convinced just troll around the board looking for opportunities to flex their "######" muscles......and they have their "groupies" who you can be sure will follow suit.

I don't buy that it's all "immigration stress" alot of people here are already with their S.O's or don't appear to even be in the process of applying for a Visa from what I can tell......

It only takes one or two people (especailly when they are PROLIFIC posters, to say the least) to change the whole vibe here........now I'm heading to my baby board where everyone is nice...LOL

Yeah, there are always people who think that since the world isn't always nice, that gives them an excuse to be mean and nasty whenever they feel like it, and you just have to "deal with it" or "leave." Just remember, you don't have to live with them...

I think people have to admit that sometimes this board is wayyyy too sensitive....if you don't agree or if you say something that's different, you can be accussed of being nasty & unsupportive.

I think there are ways of saying things that can make the same point come across completely differently. And I think sometimes people intentionally word things to make them come across harsh, hurtful, or otherwise ugly. There's a way to be helpful, rebuking, whatever, without being rude.

Hmmm, I wonder who will be the first one to tell Uling to stop telling other people how to post. Or to tell him that life isn't all lollipops and rainbows, you know. Or to tell him that they're sick of his whining. It's only a matter of time...

For example, instead of "fukc you, azzhole", one can say "you resemble an ####### cavity and i wish penetration on you, with all due respect of course".
