Thank you for reading my post. I am desesperate. I have given a 10 years gc, and been married for more than 5 years. The thing here is that I had been living with my husband and have had the ups and downs in the relationship. But he has been unemployed, he has a drinking habit and sometimes it is just so hard to live with someone who does not react normal when drunk. The problem I face is that I came to Mexico to visit my family for this summer, we had just left one house and planned to move to another hoping that his new interview would lead him to an stable job. Well what happen is that he did not get the job. He has been living with his parents who absolutely protect him and he started sending me emails telling me that he wants to leave me and that I should not communicate to him anymore because a law firm will contact me soon and that I will not have access to our stuff in a storage unit I am paying for. He is always constantly blaming me for all of our battles. In this last email he is even told me that a law firm is even going to tell me something about the my re-entry to the US which I do not think has nothing to do the family law and the immigration law... I am considering that this is even a threat ? I would appreciatte any of your comments about this... can these lawyers avoid an entry to the US?. Other comment is I do not understand his behavior like before this "threating, leaving email" we had had a normal and happy skype call, then at night he sent me this crazyness, I am guessing if he was drunk... but that really makes me angry...

I am sorry for the issues you are dealing with,

You have multiple concerns, I will try to answer some of them.

You have 10 years GC build on true and faithful marriage, so, as of immigration you are fine.

Also, if you were a resident for 5 years, you might wana file for citizenship (based on 5 years residency NOT marriage), that is even better and be done with the whole immigration thing.

As far as the storage unit, if its with your name and you pay for it, you can contact their office and ask them to prevent anyone but you to get access to it or you can go and change the lock or (many have electronic gates that require access code, you can change that as well if you chose to)

Now, do you want to stay with him or leave? if you decided its over and you can not stay, I would KEEP his emails but ignore responding and either file for divorce or wait for him to do it.

If the emails are so bad that you start getting worried, you can get a restraining order against him till you finalize the divorce and be done.

You need to decide if you wana stay with him or leave, this will guide you on what you need to do and how to protect yourself.

Again, I am sorry I can imagine how hard that can be but stay tough and work out your issues one way or another.

Good Luck

a family law lawyer cannot deny you entrance into the USA, especially if you have a 10 year green card. based on his history with alcohal and from the bi-polar actions with the skype call to the email, this could just have been a threat to scare you. I recommend trying to work out your differences in person before any type of seperation is filed legally.

If you are paying for the storage locker and are listed as one of the renters then change the lock and let him figure it out. :)

If it's gotten to the point where that marriage is not salvageable then divorce and move on. From what you are saying there is no reason why you would not be allowed US entry.
