When in doubt, contact the source. In this particular situation, your best answer will come from the Embassy; because, if for some unfortunate circumstance, someone gives you wrong information, you'll have nothing to back it up with.

Email the Embassy to get a written response and print it out for him (just in case).

In Cuba- it's such a rip-off. The people who work in the hospitals tell you that so that they can sell you earlier appointments. You have two choices: 1) you can tell your fiance to talk to the person who schedules the appointment and pay $80-100 CUC to get an earlier appointment. BUT make sure that he actually gets the exam done. Or 2) you can go to your interview without the medical forms and hand them in later. However, you will have to wait for the visa.

I don't know-- since the medical exam is only 2 weeks after your interview date, maybe it won't be so bad to wait. I don't know if it's worth it to try and pay for an earlier appointment.

I called the embassy and they said that is strange that they gave them the appt after the interview. That he needed a papaer signed by doctor stating that there was no earlier appt or something to that sort.... I wonder if he can go to any other hospital

If it is for your K-1 medical it has to be done by a civil surgeon, no?

It has to be done by a professional appointed by the Embassy. In some countries, instead of giving you the name of a couple of doctors (like in Argentina), they send you to a particular hospital.

I don't think the embassy is probably aware of the problem since most people try to find a solution on their own. I think each municipality has a designated hospital-- my fiance lives in Santo Suarez and his hospital was really backed up. Our interview was in June and his appointment was for July (we paid to speed things along). Supposedly, other municipalities had shorter waiting times. He can try to see if he can get it done somewhere else, but I am sure he will have to pay something to do so.

For two weeks its not worth it.... I can go to interview and they will ask to bring in exam when ready.... I cant do much anymore. I am about to go nuts... Esto es un desespero por completo.... Nothing settles in my stomach right, I cannot sleep right. All I think is of him being here.. They told him at hospital that the same day of exam they can give him the results since the interview is for Sept 27..... I dont know who to believe anymore. All I can do is just wait. By the way did your fiance pick up visa and when are arriving.

Resuelva whatever it takes to do the exam. You don't want Anymore delays.. You want the info before the interview. They check the exam before you get into the building. The envelope doesn't need to be sealed (nothing sealed was allowed in the interests section when I went there).

I'm just another opinion...but don't worry about the visa being denied due to a tardy medical exam. They will just ask you to submit it when it's done. That being said, don't expect the medical exam results the same day...you need the chest x-rays too, and how fast do you think this will all take place? Also once you submit the tardy medical exam to the US Interests section, I can almost guarantee they won't issue his visa the same day. From experience, we had to submit supplemental info to the US Interests Section, and it took about 2 weeks after to receive the visa (even though I ALREADY HAD THE INFO AT THE INTERVIEW!!)...It was just that the interviewer wouldn't take it, because the "pre-screener" didn't think it was necessary.

You have some time...so try and try again to get it done ahead of the interview. You can't take NO for an answer in this process in Cuba...because it's almost always NO at first. Does your fiance know anyone that works in the hospital? Almost everyone in Cuba has a relative, or friend of some sort that works there. Go that route, and when he goes to schedule again...a crisp 5-10CUC showing in hand would usually do the trick.

Just my suggestion...Keep trying, and trying, and trying...He'll get it done...ja ja.

Thank you for the advice, but just got a phone call a little while ago. That he went back offered $$$$$ and they did his exam, it will be ready in a week or so.... Incredible!!!!!
