So I had a consultation with a law firm in london who specialises in US immigration. The firm is a US based firm.

my story was that I was falsely accused by my ex partner. I got arrested and elected crown court trial for the charges laid against me. of course, I was found not guilty on all accounts and pleaded not guilty also.

this however made me need to apply for a B1/B2 visa. I got it approved, thankfully, last year. I will be using it for the first time next month. I was able to travel before the whole ordeal on the visa waiver programme.

So I have a US girlfriend. we plan to marry at some point. Obviously means I would move over/immigrate to the US.

people here said "no, you are in serious trouble because of the charges that were laid against you and even though you were found not guilty still you wont get approval".

Well after speaking with the firm, he immediately said that there will be no problem because I was found not guilty. there is NO conviction.

The bonus is, I dont need to apply for a K1 visa. I can get married on my curent B1/B2 visa then the girlfriend can file for the immigration thing/sponser. I can still continue to travel back and fourth which is ideal for me.

thought I would update you all.

People here are not lawyers. They can only advise you based on their own experience or the experience of others here.

Glad everything will work out for you.

I understand. however there is a difference between getting your hopes down and being realistic but also answering something which you KNOW things about and not just randomly poking in and out and stirring things up

And when she files make sure she prints out not only this but all your content from VJ for your evidence to prove a bona fide marriage

what? give me a break.

I dont get why I cannot ask legitimate questions here. after all this is an open forum and it is meant to be a helpful community, not this kind of negitive and false accusation community.

no wonder the world is in a state today because of such people.

I wonder why i bother anymore. I have nothing to hide so really, it is not my fault if you have issues. go sort them out

I agree with the lawyer that your prior legal issue should not cause problem as you were found not guilty. However, I don't agree with him that you don't need a K1 visa. If one only needed a B2 visa to enter the US then get married, why would a K1 visa exist in the first place? Then everyone would just come as visitors and marry! I would stay you still need a K1 visa if you want to do things legally.

I would make sure that this visa will not make you go back to UK because this visa is a tourist one. And if you get married close to your arrival, it's more of a visa fraud.

Just in case, ask another lawyer.
