Visiting my boyfriend for 3 months - what makes the entry easier

Hello everyone,

I am hoping you will be able to help me with a small issue.

I am visiting my boyfriend this September and I want to stay for the maximum amount of time - 3months.

Reading through a few threads, I am getting a little nervous that the boarder control officers might not let me in.

I have booked a return flight, but thats basically all the proof I've got.

I just finished my studies in the UK and moved back home to Germany. I am doing an internship at the moment and once it is finished I am flying over to the States. However, I have no new job waiting for me after these 3 months.

What other documents can I take helping me prove that I am going back home after these 3 months? As said, I am able to show my return ticket and I am happy to take statements from my bank account.

Thank you for your advice,

Mopsi

It's worth pointing out that VWP is specifically 90 days, which is slightly shorter than three months. Probably you know this, but I figured I'd point it out, just in case.

Some other evidence to consider:

- Do you have a residence in Germany that you're paying for?

- Do you have any events in Germany after you return that you've paid for?

Hi Owen,

actually thank you for pointing that out. I mean, I fly back after 80 days, but to be honest I did not check the 3months/90days difference. So... puuuh... lucky me ;)

For the possible evidence you have mentioned, I have to say No!

I live with my parents at the moment, because I did not want to get my own flat when I am not in Germany for 3 months and not having a job just yet.

And so far... I have nothing planned after my return. But that I could change. Are small things enough like doctor's appointments? Or tickets to the theatre?

I was thinking about asking my sister (she owns a company) to write me a letter saying that I will start working there after my return from the States. I working currently for the sister company and if I do not find a different job, it could well be that I would start working in her company once I am back in Germany in December 2012.

Take what you have. When I visited for 88 days during my K1 process all they looked at at CBP was my return ticket. I had a letter from my employer saying I was due back on a specific date but they didn't look at it. I also took a bank statement to show I had enough money to take a 3 month holiday, in case they suspected I'd try and work when I was here.

It is better to be overprepared than under prepared.
