Big Age Difference?.....?

Dear Vj members.. I am not the one to put my whole life story on here and do not intend to do so. I am have read a couple of posts on here regarding getting a denial because of an age difference. I am a bit concerned being that in my country this is actually a common occurance for the man to older then the woman. I know that i have enough prove of our relationship from pictures to phone logs and so forth. I would like to know if anyone can share some light on this regarding pass experiences. Does it depend on the Country? The evidence? or lack of evidence? the interviewer?

Thank you in advance!!

Hey,

In some case and country red flags can be a concern, BUT that is not something I that you should be worry about too much as long as you guys can show proof of your relationship, and it not an exterm age different I don't see a problem with it.

I know some one close to be who she was 40 at the time and her husband was 60 (usc) , HUGE age different they have been together 12years now as she is 52 now and he is 72, She explain to me being that they where an older couple, they where asked a few question, and where asked to show proof of relationship, which she had letter that he had sent her, a few picture not to much from what she had told me. And they approved her visa (Also coming from DOMINICAN REP.)

Now In you case I say go as prepared as possible, prove you relationship, And you should be ok. Remember CO are protecting the (USC) for fraudulent cases, where people are looking to immigrate purposes,(Which hopefully this isn't the case for any of us, regardless of age, or race).

Good Luck!!!

I think you'll be alright.

Have your evidence ready!! Hopefully you have lots of pictures and have made plenty of visits cause that is the evidence they really really pay attention to. If there is 20+ age difference just expect to get a little more scrutinized because unfortunetely DR is a high fraud country. I wish you luck.

I know of at least two couples from DR who are more than 17 years differnt and are real relationships and were approved. One case woman older, one case man was older. Just concentrate on creating an honest, loving relationship. Wishing you the best!

My husband is younger than me and we were anxious that the 16 year age difference would be an issue (I am the USC and my husband was moving here). During his Adjustment of Status process, the IO asked us many questions about our relationship (how we met, what we love about the other person, how do the families feel etc). We had many pictures of our visits to the US and Australia (where my husband is from), our wedding album, wedding program, wedding invitation along with joint financial documents (basically a lot of proof) and my husband's green card was approved. In fact, just last week his 10 year green card arrived. :)

As the others have stated here, you just need to be honest and truthful and have a lot of documentation and evidence, and I believe the IO will recognize a real couple.

Good luck. :)

In general, in Latin American countries a 15-ish-year age difference (older man) will not be a red flag by itself. Focus on the bona fide nature of the relationship, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

SInce it is common in DR that couples have age difference I dont think its a huge issue. My hubby is 12 yrs older than me and although we were denied, the CO never made any comments on our age difference.

Regarding evidence....take as much as you have and make sure they see every peice of it. In my case I had 300+ pics and 2 nice wedding photo album and a photo book I created when we went to a resort and I had traveled 6 times in the year (I had my passport to prove this but was never asked for it) ...but the only thing they asked to see was my photo album and my photo book(which the CO I got took as his laughing peice of entertainment). From my experience I do beleive that it depends on the CO you get. All I can advise you is to stay cool n calm at your interview and act as you normally would with your husband.

Good luck!
