Is this ROC or did you come in on a different visa like a K-1?

If at all possible reschedule for before your originally scheduled time. I have seen reports of people whose local office did not receive the notice of reschedule and therefore denied for being a no show.

What visa did you arrive on? A IR-1/CR-1 has a GC upon entry and does not have to do AOS--only ROC if married less than 2 years? If this is for ROC then my response will be different than if it is for AOS. If it is for AOS I would go to the interview and reschedule your cruise as the AP is tied to the GC application and if anything goes wrong with the GC application and you are outside the US, you will not be admitted to the US. If it is for ROC then rescheduling the interview is not as bad--sorry to hear you have an interview for ROC.

Good luck,

Dave

I really think you will be fine to reschedule, but that depends on how much risk you are willing to take with the immigration process. Rescheduling an interview should be easy and have no affect on your AP or your trip. However, when the USCIS screws up it tends to screwup your life for several months or even years. Let us assume that you reschedule and have a letter confirming it, but the IO does not get a copy and you do not show up. He cancels your AOS application. When you arrive at the POE from your cruise you are denied re-entry into the US because you AP has been canceled. Now you have to go to some other country and file a spousal visa and wait it out until approved. That is the worst case, but we here on VJ have heard all kinds of horror stories so we tend to be a bit conserative when it comes to advising people on how to deal with the USCIS. So the question is how much risk are YOU and your husband willing to accept. I went on a Carribean cruise in November and found it to be a nice experience as I was able to leave the ice and snow of Kansas behind.

I wish you well,

Dave

You can reschedule but sometimes USCIS doesn't send the message to your local office. They, in turn, think you just haven't showed up and deny you. If you are out of the country this can be a BIG issue because if you are denied your AP is canceled - you won't be able to get back into the US.

If at all possible, reschedule your cruise. If not, follow the directions to reschedule AND make an Infopass appointment at the local office to make sure they have received the info.

For AOS you BOTH go to the interview. Most of the questions are directed at the immigrant, but you are both required to be there. If nothing else it is for emotional support. My wife was so nervous her leggs were bouncing up and down. I made a comment about relaxing and something else that made the IO laugh. Most of the questions are to check the correctness of the information onthe application. Our IO made a comment about the I-864 and I-693 having been received and in good shape. Then she started asking about her parents' names, places of birth, her place of birth, SSN*, has she been working in the US, and then all of those "Have ou ever..." questionon the application. Done. GC arrived 2 days later.

Dave

* since we included that on the application as she had her SSN before we applied for AOS.

Don't be nervous, you and your husband might get interview in a separate room, make sure you remember where u and your hubby went the past few days, where did u eat, what colors you wore those days etc. That's what they asked to my cousin when he got interviewed with his wife. BUT it could be different... Just be prepared. My wife is from philippines as well and the interview thing was just piece of cake.. Just think that it's going to be the same... haha :D
