Hey VJ family,

have a question about filing for chapter 13 bankruptcy. a little history, i have got divorced in 2011 and am preparing to submit for K1 for my fiancee. for my previous marriage we have many outstanding bills that are catching up to me. the ex is not working and i pay no alimony or anything to her. both car notes are up to date but i cant see clearing up most of these bills without getting a second income or filling bankruptcy. i currently make a salary that is extremely above poverty line. i am sending my fiancee 500 a month for her and our baby. i guess my question is if i file bankruptcy will that have any effect of my K1 visa approval?

thanks for any insight.

Their shouldn't be any affect. It's great your above poverty line. Clear your debt and free your mind. Bankruptcy is very useful when needed. Good Luck to you :)

Nope. Not for K-1 filing. As long as your income is above the required poverty line. Not sure about AOS though, but i think even for that the concern is income, not debt.
