Hey kind VJ people,

So we just received the NOA2, 9, July, and I wonder what kind of experiences some of you had. How long will it take until I get an interview at the embassy? I actually need to be in the US before August 25th, but some of you said that is not realistic... 2 moths from NOA2?

Would really appreciate your answers!

Cheers,

Ana

It normally takes 2-3 months from NOA2 to Interview date. It is country specific. It will take any time till 2 weeks for the file to reach NVC after the I-130 approval. Then about 1-2 weeks to get the case number assigned. Then couple of weeks to get the case complete at NVC (provided you make payments on time and have all documents ready). Then the interview date will be assigned based on your country's consulate traffic.

Reaching USA before 25th August is not realistic until any miracle happens :)

I'd ask in your local countries subforum as things are country specific at this stage. Normally two months is pushing it, I'd say closer to three months. Your case will take up to two weeks to be forwarded to the NVC and then a further two weeks before it's sent to your embassy. Once this happens you'll need to have your medical and wait for your embassy to schedule a visa (You might be in an embassy where you can do this, I have no idea if the Macedonian embassy is fast or slow)

Macedonia falls into the Europe and Eurasia catagory on here, so click this link http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/95-europe-eurasia-except-the-uk-and-russia/

They should be far better placed to advise you on what the embassy is like and your expected processing times

According to http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Macedonia&cty=Skopje it says 3-5 weeks

but that doesn't include anything regarding how long it takes NVC to send your petition, how busy the consulate is, and doesn't say anything about when the visa will be in your hand.

Why do you have to be there by August 25?

Good luck

Thanks for the responses! Wow, three months... Well, we already have all of the documentation prepared and the Interview should be in Germany, Frankfurt Consulate since I've been living here for 8 years now.

I applied for a study place at Yale after we were engaged and got it, so semester is starting August 25th... But I guess I can start later on there if the visa takes too long...

The I-129F/K-1 process is not the same as the spousal process. There are no payments made at the NVC stage.
