If you read the instructions carefully, this should all be fairly clear. You need to submit passport photos along with each form that you fill - I cannot remember the exact number, but it is all explained in the form instructions. You'll need passport photos of both the foreign spouse and US spouse.

Other photographs of the couple can be send along as evidence of bonafide marriage for the I-130. These types of photos aren't necessary if there's strong proof otherwise, such as joint lease, joint bank accounts, joint insurance, etc., and they can also be brought to the interview.

VJ has a very good and detailed guide for the AOS process here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

I don't recall it being a requirement to send the copy of it. The forms ask for the numbers though!

I copied husband's ssn together with his drivers license to prove citizenship... his passport was expired (still put it in) and the birth certificate we had at the time was in 3 pieces... I put a copy of... whatever was left of it... in the packet anyway

I didn't include a copy of my social security card. I just put my number in the forms where they asked for it and included a copy of my birth certificate.

I really followed the instructions exactly. If they asked for the USC birth certificate, that's what they got. They didn't ask for a copy of my SS card, so they didn't get it.

I know most people say there's no harm in including extra stuff, and I guess there isn't, but there's also no need to clutter up your file with stuff they don't want.

Sorry to jump in this late but just started putting together my application packet and had a questions about the cover letters.

Do you put the first part on a front page and then the other covers letters or indexes on each form? with the first part I mean this:

Dear Sir/Ma’am:

Please find enclosed concurrent filing of forms with payment for:

Petitioner: (U.S. Spouse)

Beneficiary: (intending immigrant)

• I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative)

• I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status)

• I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization)

• I-131 (Application for Travel Document)

And then the rest on separate sheets before each packet/form starts?

Thanks!

Unless I've forgotten something, it's $1490. And I think they used to require 2 checks, but now they will accept 1. I've heard of people having their applications returned if they only send 1, but I don't know if that still happens or that was the "old days". I'd send 2 to be safe.

I would make a single cover letter personally, but it doesn't matter. Make it in a way that is neat; that's the most important part.

And, Ma'am is kind of a rude word at worst or casual at best... in a formal letter you should say Madam, or use the gender-neutral formula, "To Whom it May Concern."

Is it ok if I just put the 2 Passport Photos attached just to one of the forms. Or should I attached 2 for the I-130 and another ones to each form. I have the same questions regarding the other documents that the USCIS ask more than one time.
