Hello,

I am writing this query for both me and my Egyptian fiance. I, the American fiancee, went to an Immigration attorney before my last visit with my fiance in Egypt in June of 2012. She told us the process would not be too complicated, but after reading several Internet stories, we have begun to worry. We worry because he is 12 years my junior.

We met in July 2009. He was the coordinator for my private Egyptian tour. By the end of the trip we knew we had to keep in touch. We communicated in a variety of ways--email, skype, messenger--during the time. Our communication was the building of a great friendship. Through the years our communication continued, though at times we were not as frequent. We kept in touch, however, until in February of 2012 when we decided we wanted to explore the possibility of a more romantic relationship. Both of us were available to do so, and we recognized we had such similarities. Because we had covered so many deep topics from the moment we met in 2009, we knew we were compatible.

However, we knew we had to see each other in person to not only confirm our feelings for each other but to see how being physically in the same place would work. So I travelled to Egypt in June 2012. By the end of the trip, both of us knew then that we wanted to spend our lives together. He proposed, I accepted, and we began the K-1 process.

Currently, we are in the first step of the process. I am awaiting his G325 and Intent to Marry Statements from Egypt. Once they arrive at my doorstep, I will compile them with all the evidence (technological communication since 2009, photos of our time together, flight stubs and itinerary from latest trip) and mail it to Dallas.

My questions include: Should we be concerned about the age difference? Will the task to prove our relation is real be harder because of this? If so, what additional proof should we include beyond our emails and tickets and pictures?

Thanks for assisting!

Moved from K1 Process & Procedures to MENA regional forum; OP's questions are Egypt specific (and also relevant to the MENA region in general).

The age difference is large compared to cultural norms but not large compare to many of our MENA members. You should address it but not be overly concerned. I hope you didn't hire the atty as you probably don't need one.

"The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.
