Can anyone clarify the requirements for birth certificates? Everything I read says it has to have BOTH parents name on it. Is that true? My husband has been trying to get his dad's name put on his since january of last year and they finally told him the first 3rd time he has applied for it that the government lost the copy of his mom and dads marriage certificate. And without it his dads name can go on it. And they refuse to accept the copy his parents have. So it doesn't look like he will get his name on it. Has anyone had a positive experience without the fathers name on the birth cerificate. Thanks for the help.

Well me and my daughter was petition by my husband, my hubby is not the biological father of my daughter

and in her BC I actually didn't include the biological fathers name. everything is ok we are on our

NVC stage and just waiting for our case to be be complete. we sent both BC and Baptismal of my daughter

instead which shows no father's name.

Thanks a lot...we were so worried and have spent so much money trying to get his fathers name on the bc and have had no luck. I feel so much better about this now. Thanks for the comment.

Thats news to my ears...them hustlers in the jamaican govt are trying to bleed my husband dry just to get another bc with it on it. I tried to order him one online havent heard anything or got money back. He went to mandeville to order another in Jan 2011 and still didnt get it even after he was sent to the embassy to file a complaint and they were suppose to investigate. Then he reapplied again only for them to tell him they dont have a marriage certificate on file for his parents. It seems their govt just try to hustle ppl out their money (sorry for venting..lol)!

Not necessary, my fiance's fathers name is not his either, and his parents were married when he was born. The only way I would see it as an issue, is if you are petitioning his father to come over as a relative.
