vaccinations, ss# for AOS

Hi,

My wife decided not to have vaccinations in the Philippines during her medical exam. Now, she is here and has a blank Vaccination record. 1st Question: She has no written documentation of previous vaccinations, can she just get them now from my family doctor, or does she have to get them from a "panel " physician? If so, which vaccinations are required and which are optional? She is here on a "k1" fiance visa. Also, she applied for her social security number yesterday, and the clerk there said it will arrive in 5-10 business days, but it will expire when her 90 days from point of entry (I-94) expires. We already applied for AOS and EAD. How long does the EAD usually take to arrive? Will the EAD suffice to keep her SS# from expiring? or does she need the Green card? How long does it take for the Green Card to arrive?

i don't really understand the SS issue but i know she will need to visit one of the USCIS civil surgeons in your area to get her vaccination done

The vaccination supplemental Form I-693A must be completed by a Civil Surgeon, but you can have the vaccinations done by any doctor or clinic. Then take that record to the Civil Surgeon to have the I-693A completed. If she arrived as a K-1 less than a year ago don't let them tell you she needs a full physical.

Ks: If you were admitted to the United States as a fiance(e) (K-1), child of a fiance(e) (K-2), Spouse of a U.S. citizen (K-3), or child of K-3 (K-4), and received a medical examination prior to admission, then you do not require another medical examination as long as your application for adjustment of status (Form I-485) is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. You will, however, be required to submit a vaccination supplement with our adjustment of status application. The vaccination supplement must be completed by a designated civil surgeon.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) does not delete, destroy, rescind, inactivate or cancel Social Security numbers once they are assigned. Nor do they expire.

I think the clerk at the SS office gave you incorrect information.

A SSN can not expire.

My fiance just received a letter (a couple days before receiving his SS card), saying he needed an EAD in order to work. Perhaps that is what the clerk meant--your wife could only work until the I-94 expired, then she would need an EAD to continue working.
