2 things.

1: freedom of speech and expression. Are you suggesting that we cannot express how we feel about God and our faith because you don't appreciate hearing about it? I'm not asking you to believe in God, I'm expressing how I feel about my faith. I don't judge you for not believing, or having a different faith.

2. People in this world are not starving because of God. They are starving because of our (rich countries) greediness. There is enough food to feed every person in this world.

1. Are you suggesting that we cannot express how we feel about comments made by those who frequently allude to God in the most ridiculous ways? I'm not asking you not to believe in God, I'm expressing how I feel about 'faith'. I don't judge you for believing in that for which no evidence exists.

2. People in this world are not starving because of liberal, secular humanists greediness. They are starving because of the right-wingers selfishness and greediness in spite of their lip-service about being 'Christian'!

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

you have the option of not reading the thread.

That is true. :P

I'm talking about in general, on the internet and in day to day life. In the south it is everywhere, people bring it up constantly. They are almost never "good people" who act in the best interests of others.

Coming from a country where religion is no where near as "in your face" as the US at first I found it weird that people talked in such a way, but then I realized who am I to judge?

To each his or her own, as long as you are not imposing or impeding on mine or my own,if you know what I mean? Don't tell me what to think , say or what to believe, but you are free to think/ believe or say whatever makes you happy :)

Live and let live!

why do some VJ members like to mention God for all there hard work?

I know about freedom of religion, but come on now!

does anybody else feel this way also?

I believe there may be a God just like most people.

but I don't go around preaching this to other VJ members.

I like to deal with facts versus believes, and I also speak the truth!

I find that hard work and praying to God gives me and others the same results as hard work only.

and I also find that praying only gives you no results!

so my conclusion is, praying obviosly does not help.

I love to chat about God/Religion/Theology when someone else wants to chat about it and has a sincere interest in the conversation.

I don't love to chat about God/Religion/Theology when someone else wants to chat about it and does not have a sincere interest in the conversation, but instead has their own 'agenda'...I find that tiring so I avoid those conversations.

I find it highly annoying that people always mention god. I don't go around pushing my views onto others, but I don't get treated the same way.

I understand how you feel. Something bothers me somewhat in matters where god is involved.

Whenever someone says 'God is good' I tend to honor and respect their beliefs and do so without judgment. However when my reply to that statement is 'You're right. I am good' they immediately tend to point out I am wrong or crazy.

Go figure!

Now that's funny right there I don't care who you are. fight the power dude,,,, don't let the Man keep you down...It's all a Economic global capitalist conspiracy to deprive the little man of his rights. Have you ever seen what happens to a country when a "peoples party" takes over ?? Cuba, Russia, Germany in the 40's.. Those non-religious socialist regimes killed millions and millions

Germany in the 40's.. Those non-religious socialist regimes killed millions and millions

Hitler himself would disagree with your statement that Nazi Germany was a non-religious enterprise. Besides the quote below, consider reading Mein Kampf.

“My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a

fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded

by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and

summoned men to fight against them and who, God’s truth! was greatest

not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian

and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord

at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the

Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight

against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with

deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact

that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross. As

a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have

the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice… And if there is

anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly, it is

the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty

to my own people. And when I look on my people I see them work and

work and toil and labor, and at the end of the week they have only

for their wages wretchedness and misery. When I go out in the morning

and see these men standing in their queues and look into their

pinched faces, then I believe I would be no Christian, but a very

devil, if I felt no pity for them, if I did not, as did our Lord two

thousand years ago, turn against those by whom today this poor people

are plundered and exposed.”

[Adolf Hitler, speech in Munich on April 12, 1922, countering a

political opponent, Count Lerchenfeld, who opposed antisemitism on

his personal Christian feelings. Published in "My New Order", quoted

in Freethought Today April 1990]
