Man alive< I can imagine what you are going through.

I would want to do anything and everything to be there.

However Jozi was really quick once we got our NOA2( although it was routed via an incorrect country) once they recieved everything, we got our packet 3 and submitted it and had our interview within a week. I had to wait for a few docs before i could submit our packet but it was really speedy. I suggest you have everything you need for packet 3 ready so you can submit asap and get your interview set up asap. The doctors app and medical was also set up in record speed.

Good luck and just keep sending loving and healing thoughts to your man until then <3

Thank you so much for your kindness and sympathy.

Today has been a wreck of a day.

I am waiting for the list of the required documents from Joburg still.

We hope to receive them next week.

I'll private message you if i need any more help.

It's good to see another SA person on here. <3

Sounds like you should hopefully expect to get through the next stage of the visa process pretty quickly, so if that's true it's probably overall best to stay in SA. That way you won't slow the process down by being away when you need to do stuff, and hopefully pretty soon you will have your K-1 and be able to go join your fiance forever. Does he have family/friends who can help him over the next month or two? But if you and he really feel that it is most important for you to be with him right now, then by all means take a flight...personally I'd say you're more likely than not to be allowed in. *hugs*

I know a lot of people that visited their fiancés while waiting for the K1 and it wasnt a problem.

Just bring a copy of your NOA1 and your NOA2 with you and you'll be fine!

Just be careful on how long you stay, cuz If you got noa2 a month ago, you're probably

getting your interview date very soon!

I got my case number 15 days after NOA2 and 20 days after that got my interview date.

You should call NVC and inquire about your case number.

I'm sorry if the title offended you.

I was panicking because the love of my life is incredible pain, and since the break is incredibly bad, like completely separate, he may not be able to walk for three to six months, and may have to use a cane for the rest of his life, according to a doctor.

Obviously, I'm a little stressed, and at the time that i wrote this, it felt like an emergency.

i'll be sure to title my posts my posts accordingly next time.

I was stressed, and upset.

My apologies.

You have NO reason to apologize! FOR YOU it's an emergency! Long distance relationships are hard. You expect to be close to the person you love if something bad happens. I understand you.

Now, about visiting him:

I was also informed I could NOT visit my fiance (now husband) during the process and after all, I found out that I could have done that! A Brazilian girl I know did that and everything was fine. I think the only problem is the money you will spend on the plane ticket.

Don't decide ANYTHING while you r under stress. Does he live by himself? How is his relationship with his mom? Can she take care of him while you are in South Africa?

Think of all these things and then decide (I'm just saying this because you could use the money of the plane ticket towards your wedding, new furniture, etc).

I wish you ALL the best, good luck and blessings!

Rebeca

The emergency is that she loves her husband and he is injured. You sound like a very callous person. Perhaps next time you should resist the urge to respond to a post if you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute.

It does not minimize the OP's suffering to remind her that it is not really an emergency. If he couldn't get surgery until she was there for some reason, no health care in his country, no money to pay for it, no way to get to the hospital then it's an emergency.

Having said that, I'd be very upset too and I'd want to be there. I think the poster you are upset with was trying to give the OP some perspective. What she said wasn't really callous.

OP: If it were me I'd contact the embassy and figure out if you can have an interview ASAP. Get your papers etc in order then if it's going to be a while, I'd go ahead and visit. I think if you got your NOA2 a month ago you should hear from them soon. Have you had your medical yet? Do you have the I-134 filled out and ready to go? I hope your fiance has family who can help him and you can concentrate on getting there with your K1 asap, because then you won't have to leave.

I wish you the best of luck!

A co-worker of mine recently had the same thing happen to her. After going through surgery to put a steel rod in her leg, she is doing great, no cast at all, just crutches. It is a serious injury of course, but be assured that he will be just fine :) It's a scary thing to have a loved one call you with news like that, especially when they're all drugged up, but it sounds like he is in good hands and your visa process is moving along great also.

Good luck to you, and best wishes for his recovery!

That is definitely a difficult situation to be in and I really hope your Fiance has a speedy recover!

My advice would be to find out how it will take to actually have your visa in hand. For us, the K-1 visa process really sped up after we received our NOA2. You are probably really close to getting your visa to move to the U.S. Start preparing your documents and be ready to move. While it is hard not to be next to your loved one in a time of difficulty, you could possibly be there within the month to take care of each other and spend the rest of your lives together.

You would also save money on a plane ticket - which could be very helpful throughout his recovery, your move to the U.S. and the AOS package that you file after you marry.

Also, what if they schedule your interview while your in the U.S.? You will need to be back in your country sometime very soon to complete the medical, to pick up the results, police reports, interview, etc. My advice is to finish the K-1 process so you can be by his side the moment you have the visa.

Good luck and whatever you choose to do, I hope you can be next to him very soon!

I understand your situation and feel for you. People who lack understanding and compassion should refrain from posting comments. I get nasty comments sometimes that say 'this is the first time i'm hearing about it' in the most sarcastic way and what i do is block them. you should block too

Thank you everyone.

He just got out of surgery and has a rod in his leg. The doctor feels it went well, but I don't know much more at this time.

His friends are all being wonderful, and he is being very well looked after so my heart is a little more at ease now.

My final decision is just to wait and see what the consulate says. I received our case number on wednesday, so will get to calling as soon as monday comes around. I'm sure it won't be long until we hear news about the interview. Luckily most of my papers are in order, I just have to have my medical. I need to go to a a consulate approved doctor to do that, right? Is there a list anywhere that lets me know who the approved doctors are? I'm starting to pack everything up tomorrow so I can be ready to leave as soon as my visa is granted. Buying a plane ticket right now is ill advised.

Your support has been so, ,so amazing!

I apologize if I seemed over sensitive at any point, but I'm sure you understand how heartbreaking it is to be away from the peson you love when they are in pain.

My reaction was admittedly a bit dramatic, but at least now my head is clear.

Thank you for the perspective and advice. I honestly do appreciate it.

Will keep going on the pre-determined K1 route, because I'd rather wait a little longer and not have to leave again. At least if I wait, we can stay together for good this time.

xoxo
