I have been unemployed for last three years.

So I have not filed tax return for the last three years.

Is it necessary for me to submit tax returns?

I thought if you're unemployed you don't need to file tax return..

Am I correct?

Also I don't have a social security card number as I was brought up abroad and

never knew the existence of such a system... Bizarre eh

My sister (USC) is my joint sponsor and has all the necessary documents.

Not an expert in this area... Any help or similar stories would be great!!

No need for tax returns; just write a short letter explaining why you did not file.

Depending on your age, a SSN may have been issued to you automatically at birth. If you go to your local SS office or US embassy abroad, they can help you with that.

Is sister resident in the USA? She needs to be to co-sponsor.
