I have a computer-related question.

Hopefully soon I will get that visa my wife and I have been waiting for for so long. Can I bring my (European) computer and still be able to use it in the US? I know from past experience of dealing with other electronically powered devises (cell phone and camera battery chargers and such) that power cords and power sockets are different in Sweden and the US... Can I just walk in a store and buy a new power cord, plug in my computer, and still be able to use it?

With a desktop there should (but not always) be a switch on the psu to turn it from 220v over to 110v. Then you just get a power cord after you switch it. With a laptop you might need the power cord that goes to the power brick. Other than that though you should be fine.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

might i suggest reading the print on the brick to ensure it can handle 110 volts along with it's current 220 volts?

It should say right on the brick (sticker).

Thanks. Sounds like there's a good chance at least. I may not have to buy a new one.

16GB Nexus 7 sold out on Google Play store in face of high demand

By Mike Wehner, Tecca | Today in Tech – 12 hrs ago

With entrenched competitors like the iPad and Kindle Fire, you'd think that a brand new consumer slate would be a hard sell. Well, at least we'd think so. But according to Google's own online store, the company's new Nexus 7 tablet is selling great — perhaps even a little too well. It seems that sales have been so stellar that the company has had to halt all current orders for the 16GB version of its flagship slate.

Though Google's Android operating system is already well known in the tablet market, the Nexus 7 is the first slate from Google itself, and as such it has been a hotly-anticipated gadget. The 7 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the latest and greatest version of the mobile OS. As its namesake suggets, the tablet features a 7-inch widescreen display, as well as a powerful quad-core processor, front-facing camera, and near-field communication technology.

The tablet was expected to sell well, especially given its pricing structure — $199 for the 8GB model, $249 for 16GB — which is roughly half that of the iPad. Still, the fact that the 16GB model is already sold out shows that even Google perhaps underestimated how well it would be received.

If you're interested in the Nexus 7, the 8GB version is still in stock at Google's web store, but if 16GB is what you're after, you'll need to wait until the company replenishes its supply.

You can always buy a voltage converter if necessary.

Cool. Thanks. :)

I'd wait a bit before I upgraded. There are usually problems the first week or two. Give them time to work the bugs out.

Shockwave Flash keeps crashing in Google Chrome! ranting33va.gif I don't wanna use other web browsers though. I downloaded Chrome again last week and it was fine for a few days before the crashing began again. These how to fix articles are of little help.

I usually upgrade at least a month after the release. luv.gif

Apple hates Google, hence they make Chrome screw up all the time so you'll use their crappy Safari browser instead. Steve hated Google.

I woke up early a few days ago, called my wife, asked her to go online.

After she went online, 20 seconds after, she knocked a litre cup of water all over the new laptop that I sent her 3 months ago.

She got on her brother's computer, told me all about it.

Then I called her, she was crying, almost inconsolable.

Computers are tools, to me - I have many tools. I told her to just use the atm card, get money, buy a new lenovo laptop at the IT Mall in Wuhan. She cried at me, telling me it's all my fault that she spilled the water.

After a bit of talking, I was able to help her calm down. I'm sending her another one soon. I am holding off for the 'Beginning of School' sales this upcoming week.

In Texas, we have a 3 day 'no tax' weekend coming up, all school supplies (computers included) are on sale and there's no tax.

So, if'n yer in Texas, pay attention to the local stores in yer area. You might be able to get a deal.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
