AOS review domestic or in Japan?

I filed an I-130 from Japan to the lockbox address in Chicago (June 26)

I received the I-797C (July 10, letter dated June 28).

I'm now wondering about the next stage -

whether the AOS fees are going to be reviewed in Japan or in the US?

I'm filing two AOS: mine (live in Japan) & my sister's (lives in the US).

Thank you! : )

Once your petition s approved it will go to the NVC (National Visa Center) there is where you will go through submitting AOS (Affidavit of Support) and your IV Bill Documents. Nothing at embassy in Japan but interview. Since you live in Japan you may get in a quicker queue for processing. Now is the time during all this getting documents together for next phase NVC. You can go to the NVC filers thread and read the first post to read up what happens after the USCIS. All you can do not is prepare and the waiting.

The interviewing officer makes the ultimate call on the affidavit of support.

Yes, NVC looks it over before it goes to the embassy/consulate.

Fast approval because you are a citizen filing abroad. So even though you sent to the Chicago lockbox they see you are not living here and things move alot faster for you. So get ready things are going to start getting very fast and busy (hopefully) NVC is kind of logjammed but again you are in a different category than me.

And you are welcome. (I grew up in Japan. Wonderful memories).

Ah I see! I'm very happy about that...as Im pregnant and am due in December in the US

- let's see if my Japanese hubby makes it in time.

Have been collecting all sorts of documents like crazy..

I think we are on the right track.

My only concern now is my tax return docs (Ive never applied for an SS card, I was brought up in Japan too!)

... Might have to apply for my SS card and file a tax return.. long process....

Aaaanyway, all good all good. Thank you!!!!
