Just wanted to see if there was anyone with experience in using a reliable travel agent( either here in PH or there in States ) to get special promos going from Manila to LAX. Most specifically the "First Time Immigrant" promo fare that seems to good to be true. Anyone with experience with this? A ticket directly from PAL for my wife and baby is almost $3,000.. and i need one also  . Any insight and recommendations would be just peachy. Thanks!

i used airtkt.com just few days ago and got the cheapest fare i see in all travel agency. you can try the priceline.com also which u can bid your own price but u have to put your credit card info before you can bid.

Expedia has always been my choice. The prices quoted are tax-inclusive.

But if you can get the first time immigrant special...even better!

Good idea on the first time immigrant special. Wasn't aware of it.

I paid a little over $700 for a first time immigrant fare for my wife via Cathay Pacific and that was from Manila to JFK for travel in February of 2011. My wife went to the Cathay's office in Makati and buy/pay for the ticket. Taxes & fees were included in the price of the ticket.

I did a check for a friend a few month back and Cathay Pacific as well as the other Asian bases Airlines still offer the first time immigrant fare.

Try calling the different airlines - Asiana Air, Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, etc, and do a price comparison.

i know, thats insane! i have flown back and fourth 4 times already and never payed more than 1000 dollars. Even flying PAL. But they give it to you good if you dont reserve at least a month or so in advance. The only reason i was looking at PAL is because i had an open ended ticket that i didnt know expired june 21st  . That information would have been great when i cancelled my return flight when i got here.

Got a 1st time immigrant for the wife and it was $650 ish one way from Manila to San Fran. They're real for 1st time immigrants , you just have to provide the requirements of a stamped visa in passport and go when there's an opening/ticket available. Might want to try Hawaiian Airlines during the holidays, they seem to be forgotten in the mix and the tickets aren't cheap, but not too crazy either. Sorry I'm so late in putting in my 2 cents, been away a bit.
