Of course, belitting is not a good way to advise anyone. I just think people have to be careful. In one way, they want to open up because they may feel like they are in a group of friends like in real life, who they will vent to. And it is good that they feel that way with some members, a common bond. But the problem is that VJ is easily readable for anyone and does come up in google searches like Bosco added. It's not just friends reading but anyone and possibly enemies. It can backfire.

You are absolutely correct. I don't post very personal info here (less lately) and I don't recommend anyone do it. I've even advised some others off the board that it's not wise... if they take my advice great, if not, oh well.

I'm not gonna follow them around and tell them how much better my marriage is or my husband is because of what they post

I'm sorry but this constant patrolling of the boards needs to end. We are all freakin adults. If Janine was offended by something Sarah said to her then I don't think she would have a problem telling Sarah that. I don't see why anyone else needs to slap Sarah on the wrist or anyone else for that matter.

This is a public forum, you have a choice regarding what you want to read. We don't need to be treated like children and told how to talk to one another. I think Sarah's concern for Janine was a valid one. When a person cries out everyday then its not a bad thing for another member to show some concern. Sometimes its more than just venting. If you disagree with the advice given, by all means you can give the person your own advice but you don't need to slap the wrists of others.

Just to add on this... especially when we use our real names. VJ posts turn up in Google search. A friend or relative of your spouse could get curious and search on your names. That may be when the husband decides to care more about privacy.

Hmmm, I wonder if Janine and Adil's last name really is Forgetful...

Ok so because you don't like something I said to your "friends" that gives you the right to go around replying to all of my posts and taking them out of context? Sounds about right for you actually.

I haven't replied to 'all' of your posts. I don't care what you post but why are you calling others out on the board and telling them how to post and then whining when someone else does it to you?

Laugh, but a search on their first names alone probably comes up with a hit on the first page of search results. It does when I enter my first name and my husbands.

I'm not whining, just trying to figure out why you are so hateful.

Sarah, I am not trying to be hateful... I'm trying to help you realize that the way you say things hurt other people. They may not address it in public but it doesn't make them any less hurt.

Some people here forget that we are actually people behing these screen names and things said here do affect others in real life. :star:
