Esalaam Hello and Salut everyone...a good morning to you all!

Well the husband and i had another *moment* last night...

He called maybe 20 minutes before maghreb (very unusual of him not be home right after asr)...saying he is bringing 2 guests so prepare everything...I like  huh? Enough with the guests already... and I have like what 15 minutes to prepare food for 2 more people....being it Wednesday yesterday I had thought to reheat our leftovers from the day before, made some boureks, a salad,4 flans. I was running around like a chicken with my head cut cursing (astagfurullah) accidently breaking dishes and just be crazy! Finally I manage to make a colourful salad of tomatoes and cucumbers, mix together some leftover stew I had made (there are like enough for 2 people not 4) with some rice I cooked so fast (worrying if was not cooked, but luckily was ok) making 6 crepes and some french toast as I was so pressed for time and could not even think what to do...as they walked in the door I was making the coffee and tea. Wheeeeuuuu! My husband came to kitchen saying "woooooooow".....I was sooooo surprised and happy :luv: .I sat in that kitchen just so tired eating my 1 bourek and half cup of chorba (since that is all that was left)...My husband came to me again saying to get ready we are going to Alger ....I thought hmmm Alger, we must be going to the masjid in Bab el Oued (the masjid I like so much)...so I hurried get ready and the 4 of us left. The two men, probably in their early 20s looking quite shabby greeted me so kindly ...that made me happy and thanked me for the dinner. I didn't recognise them but thought they were probably my husband's friends. We drove in the car, them polietely asking me answers which I found delightful after being basically ignored and just talked about not to by others...

My husband to his office and went inside.... I found myself alone in the car with these 2 persons...I almost started to panic, but as my husband went inside he came right out...so I breathed a sigh of relief *wheeeeuuuu*...We started to drive back towards our city Kolea...it started to rain...passing our city I was stumped, where were a going? Finally we came to the city enterance of Fouka ....I could hear the athan for isha...we went all the way to marina of Fouka, where I saw a masjid right on the shores of the Meditteranean it seemed.

As I walked into the women's section of the masjid I passed a huge courtyard next to the masjid...just a mass of men standing side by side, shoulder to shoulder, leg to leg in straight rows...seemed like to go on forever these rows...I could hear the crashing of the waves in the background, it started to rain little harder and thunder in the distance. I said the du'ua for rain silently to myself.

Just as I entered the women' s section it was full and a lady pointed me towards a balcony section where I found myself a very crammed spot. I could see it seemed to the end of the Earth...I was in just awe of the sheer beauty of the moment...standing in balcony on a masjid, thunder in the distance, rain, shoulder to shoulder with sisters, below I see the mass of men in their rows...Subhan'Allah! Just as I finished up my Masjidus Salaam, the isha prayer began... it went as usual any isha and then tarawee prayer....elhamdullah!

After the prayer my husband said the 2 men were just 2 men that had just gotten out of the military and had traveled from Tlecemen which is 500km away from their home...and they were hitchhicking their way back to Fouka....so he picked them up near his work and offered them to have iftar by us. Subhan'Allah! :luv: Awwwww this is why I love my husband!

My husband then took me to the marina and the shores...where even though it was raining we shared a little *moment*... I cannot describe the moment, but just imagine the salty cold smell of the sea, with just the lightening to seen in the distance, the water looking so strange moving and crashing against the rocks, yet in the darkness not really looking like water at all.....Subhan'Allah! :luv::luv::luv:

Anyway that is all i have to share... I am wondering if JP and Najia had their interviews? Good Luck to the both of you...May the God make your process easy.Amin

Oh my goodness, I live in a freakin ghetto.

So, I was sick last night and went to bed around 8. At 11:30, some :ranting: decided that it would be a great time to set off fireworks in the courtyard of our apartment building. This went on for about 5 minutes...then nothing...I try to drift back to sleep...then it starts up again...then nothing...try to sleep...then it starts up again. Only on this third time did someone stumble out onto their balcony and say they were calling the cops. So the ghetto bum who was setting off the fireworks started pleading, no no, don't call no cops.

Dumb@ss, why the heck were you setting off fireworks at midnight? What did you think was going to happen? Ooo, let's all go out and watch? If I hadn't been all fuzzy from medication, I would have called the police during the first round.

Henia - you are so lucky to have these special moments with your husband!!!! I know it seems like such a sacrafice to make the sweets with these women but think of it as a chore for hubby to make him happy. (F)

Rhama - I would have screamed out the window too!!!! I hate it when kids in our neighborhood do that though it normally only happens here in July around Independence Day. Why on earth now unless it's for Eid?

I'm feeling tons better today thank God and luckily did not break my fast yesterday. :D My two daughters got hold of both the Emergency Arabic and the Egyptian Phrasebook and were having a great time with them last night. lol. Of course the lil devilish one turned right to the female body section and kept saying things in Arabic that meant "i think i'm pregnant", etc. I always knew when they were saying something like that in Arabic because they'd fall into a fit of laughing for 5 minutes after. Anyway it was fun 'cause they kept asking Usama questions in Arabic and he responded. He got a kick out of it too. :D

This really IS a good news day! Or at least a "better news than the last couple of days"- day.

We received the employer's letter needed for the affidavid of support today (and I thought we'd never get it, had been waiting for weeks!) and also I got an appointment for an important exam for me to finish school, where I wasn't sure I'd be able to get one before Christmas!

So, for me, this is a good news day! Hope for all others as well!

I saw this thread and thought it fit so well

short history:

2001 - met in Germany

April 2003 - fell in love

Aug 2004 - go to the US for internship

Feb 2005 - both return to Germany

Aug 2006 - getting married

DCF timeline:

09/01/2006 - filed the petition in Frankfurt

09/06/2006 - medical in Frankfurt

09/26/2006 - faxed checklist

10/05/2006 - received interview invite

11/01/2006 - INTERVIEW in Frankfurt - approved!

11/04/2006 - VISA IN HAND!!

12/21/2006 - POE San Francisco and ON TO SEA!

Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews. (F)

Mabrook to everyone who's had (semi) successful interviews this week. (F)

I'm glad it's almost over.

I feel so stupid... my husband sent me a care package several months ago... he sends them pretty regularly with small things like hijabs for me and my daughter, gifts, stickers and little games for both my kids, drawings his little cousins made for me, letters, kohl (:D), etc... in this particular one he sent some books (more like magazines) in Arabic--like children's stories-- and a couple of them had worksheets inside to learn to write and practice writing the Arabic script.

My son absolutely loves these little books and he's learned to write (almost proficiently) every letter of the Arabic alphabet alhamdulilah!!!! Anyway, I didn't think to make copies of the pages until AFTER he's already used them all up

I hope my next care package contains another set of these books so I can be smart this time and make copies of the pages and just give him the copies instead of him marking up the book :(

I wish it was just a matter of going to walmart and getting those homeschool workbooks they have there :(
